Does having been in prison stop you from getting a visa?

Featured Replies

In a few months, I will be released from jail from where I have been for the last five years. It was nothing major and to be honest I didn't even do it but the police framed me for stealing cars. Just because I was driving the car at the time and was on CC TV stealing it was used to justify charging and then convicting me.

Anyways, that is all the past now and when I am released, I'd like to meet up with my old man, Gordon Gambino and start living the good life drinking cocktails on the beach and watching sunsets and hopefully meeting the woman of my dreams, though to be honest, after 5 years in jail, I've had all the sex I can take so maybe the woman in my dreams can wait.

So to the forum folk, will I be able to join my old man in Thailand or will my multiple jail terms count against me in the end?

Cheers for any information

if you have a valid passport; you should be able to get a tourist visa.

Thank you for the information

Don't tell them and they won't know.

5 years for stealing a car ? Where I'm from this will cost you a max of 3 years and that is if you are a multiple times offender.

Anyway you should have no problems getting a visa, I think there is more then one of us who did some time in their younger years.

John,

Good luck.

As you seem to be wanting to swap a room at The Srubs for a room in Pattaya, I'll move this to the Thai Visa Forum

I have removed over 20 posts for various reasons.

To OP. As said if you can get a passport you can get a tourist visa. A 1, 2 or 3 entry visa is possible.

Assuming this is the same guy there is nine charges including aggravated burglary and stealing.

Seems to be eligible for parole after 3 years.

Having criminal record does not prevent one of getting a visa, but only because it is not checked.Officially it is reason to deny you entry or expel you from the country if the Thai government ever does find out.

If you're American, jail is never longer than one year. Prison is for 1 year or more sentences.

Odd that you would not know that, if you've actually been in prison five years, which I doubt.

OP seems to be Australian.

Let's stick to the question.

"Just because I was driving the car at the time and was on CC TV stealing it was used to justify charging and then convicting me."

Seriously, people, can't you tell a joke/troll post when you see one?

This has got to be the most blatant troll post of 2014.

Since this topic is just troll magnet and I am tired of removing posts it is now closed. The OP has gotten an answer to his question,
