visa exempt + extension ...then Burma, then another visa exempt?

Featured Replies

hello forum,

two weeks ago I entered Thailand on the 30 days visa exempt and I'm planning to get the extension for another 30 days so I can stay until the end of January.
Today I realized I need to be here at the end of Febuary as well for an event – so I’m wondering if I could leave Thailand after a total of 60 days of visa exempt, then go to Burma for two or three weeks ...and then return to Thailand and get another 30 days visa exempt?

My problem is that right now I have only three empty passport pages left (!) – two would be needed for Burma ....and the Thai exempt stamps (+ extension???) only require little space, right?

Possible?

If you are going to be out of the country for 2 or 3 weeks you will certainly have no problem getting another visa exempt entry.

Not sure why you would need 2 pages for the Myanmar visa. You can get a visa on arrival online now.

An extension stamp and departure/entry stamps would fit on one page easily.

that's very good news - thanks a lot for the reply!

how about 1 week - same situation? I'm basically trying to find a cheap and easy way to leave and enter and get another 30 days - without any problems and fear of being rejected to re-enter...

the Myanmar visa on arrival is only for those how travel by plane, right?

It is only by air at the moment but there are plans to allow it for certain border crossings.

How long you are out of the country does not matter. You could probably do out and back on the same day without a problem.

oh, really? I'm just kinda scared because of all those reports of people being rejected at the border... I'd lose a whole lot of money if I won't be able to attend that event.

thanks again!

Perhaps the best option would be to make a trip to Penang and get a single entry tourist visa. No visa sticker for Malaysia.

Get the tourist visa instead of the 30 days extension and a trip out of the country. That would give you 60 days on entry that you could extend for 30 days if needed.

I see. and Penang won't reject the visa for sure if I come straight from a 60 days visa exempt? then I would go for this option.

No problem to get the visa in Penang. But my suggestion was to go before you do the 30 day extension since you only need 60 days and you will have the option of getting a 30 day extension that will give you 90 days total.

After reading a couple of post here about the use of the 30 day entry and then the extension being used multiply times , I think it will be discontinued in the future.defiantly a money loser for Thailand.
