Prayut says no plan to dissolve local administrations

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said Sunday that he has no plan to dissolve local administrations as feared by members of provincial administrative organisations.

Prayut said his government would instead focus on helping the people with low income and tacking the issues related to the cost of living as well as providing farmland to the poor.

Brainwashed junta supporters have no sympathy for the poor thai people.

Yes it is illegal to encroach but the bully boy stand over tactics used by these thugs with no warning was beyond any normal way of resolving the problem.

Stop being negative about Thailand being taken over by a junta?

It's always amazes me these so called Junta lovers. They have all been raised under the freedom of democracy and wouldn't dare let anything like a junta take over their country by force.

Shameful and disgraceful come to mind.

Providing land for the poor?

Didn't they just send the army in and rip the hearts out of the poor famers who encroached on national park land?

As for helping the poor with their income isn't that a populist vote buying tactic?

It is when Thaksin or Yingluck does it.

Anyway I thought his main focus was on media muzzling and wedding planning for Indians this week.

S/P... encroaching on National Park land is illegal..... Does'nt matter who you are... and why would "helping the poor with their income " be a populist vote buying tactic. Responsible governments all over the world do this. Pull your head from out your ass and realise Yinluck is not gonna elope with you.. Stop being so negative about Thai politics because it does not suit you. Lets hope in the not so distant future Thai people will be able to find a corrupt free and responsible government to pull this country together. Long live the King..! wai2.gif

It had already happened with Thaksin, by far the LEAST CORRUPT government in Thai history, according to Transparency International

Unfortunately the corruption free government was disliked by some people and after the 2006 coup, the corruption index of Thailand worsened dramaticaly.

I think you should learn some about Thai history, it doesn't seem you know it well.

New boss, same as the old boss accept this one rules at the end of a gun.

No populace should ever be subjected to a Junta regime and history clearly shows us that things never get better under such rule but indeed get far worse.

It's obvious the General doesn't have a clue what he's doing and is way out of his depth.

"no plan to dissolve local administrations"

They'll just wing it, spur of the moment, off the cuff sort of approach they have been using already

The Junta doesn't need to be concerned with provincial administrative organizations - it just needs them to FEAR it. Why dismantle organizations that you already control? The Junta is very efficient.

Can't say I've seen anyone else use it.

It is standard practice with any "revolutionary" to give a name to the people they detest.

Once the name is embedded then further attributes can be added.

The Japanese did this with Chinese as did the Nazis with the Jews.

Good work SP.

You do seem to have a semblance of intelligence, but you really need to get up to date with modern psychological warfare - leave the ancient past behind.

Trade Union roots in the old country perhaps?? Never actually did a day's work...just organised?

Assuming you are NOT an expat, but a Thai citizen ...what have you done to improve the way of life for poor Thai people?

If you are an expat like most posting here ...what have you done to improve the way of life for poor Thai people?

I make no claim to improving the life of Thai people in any meaningful way...apart from the wife and family.

Over to you Don Juan err I mean JOC.

'...the corruption free government...', Thaksin would love it, just four words it takes to tell how much you think to know about (the recent) Thai History, History I mean, like true facts, not the Shins' propaganda version, or maybe you do know, and it'd then make you even more biased...

N.B.: you refer to the 'corruption perception index' from that shady 'Transparency International', in itself not very 'transparent', for you to declare there was actually in the facts less corruption under the 'Thaksin regime', while the TI guys are carefull and clever enough not to compromit the thin, and ill, air they are living from(!) by drawing any quantitative approach of corruption.

The 'gap in the market' they chose to cleverly exploit(!) (there is a growing and juicy sponsoring market for all that kind of crap stats and 'reports'), exists, simply, common sense, because corruption is an activity corruptors and corrupted attempt by all means to hide, so there are no clear figures, no general evidence, available about it! Just and only 'perception' it is, but sold as if it was gospel.

And see how well they do with it: you, and the Shins/PTP/UDD's mighty PR machine with loud horns and trumpets before you, show us how ill-intentioned people can attempt to abuse the general public by disguising 'perception' into 'facts'... What a sad bunch you are!

A 'perception' in itself cannot be wrong, my perception is this rain season was wetter than the last one, while my wife's perception is it is dryer, comparing with the number of mm. of rainwater did actually fall it is possible to tell as a fact whether it was wetter or dryer, but, still, the 'perception' of it, by my wife, or by myself, would still be right in itself, athough 180° opposed. 'Perception', you got it now? It is not a fact!

That semblance of intelligence must go out the window when he starts foaming at the mouth, which seems to be whenever he posts on Thai Visa.

IMO, the country should asap get rid of all the Phu Yais and Kamnans, relicts of the corrupt medieval (less than a century away here) system. Instead have one (or several depending on size and population) unarmed(!) 'constable', appointed by the local administration, and reporting to it, who would be (in a nutshell) in charge only for collecting the information, and implementing the following administrations' decisions, his job would have to be checked and OKed in the writing every year, and he would be 'moved to another Moo or Tambon, in another Amphoe, every 3 to 4 years, with no return to a former place he worked at.

As for the 'local administration', (in a nutshell again) ALL people involved in finances, bookkeeping, budgets, official markets, purchase, controling, and the head of administration should be appointed at the Changwat level, and reporting to this level, yearly 'evaluated' in a report, and moved in function every two years in the same local administration, with a maximum of 6 years in the same Amphoe.

The (sub-)district chief and members of the council would remain elected by the local population as presently (no more massive numbers of late new inscriptions to sway the votes), but without any authority over the civil servants hereabove, and take care of what's left of the tasks they have today. Not much left to make corruption money off, so much less money to 'invest' in campaign and vote-buying, ...and a team more motivated to serve the population (instead of themselves)!

My crystal bowl tells me many, many Billions would be saved in taxpayers' money nationwide, with the base of one of the(!) corruption pyramids cut off.

I have ideas about the Changwat too, in a same way, with a chief of administration appointed from Bkk, BUT an elected Governor (by the population or by the elected provincial assembly of delegates), who would at the same time be the Senator representing his province (maximum re-elected one time)... And the base of a next corruption pyramid erased...

But, hey, I'm just a Farang in love with the Thai people, ...who often say 'Farang mai rhu luang', so...

You should learn more about Transparency International and their "Corruption PERCEPTION Index".

Their CPI results are taken from surveys over the previous 2 years, so any change in Corruption PERCEPTION in 2006 would have been mostly due to Thaksin's time in office.
