More shakedows on Sukhumvit AND new areas, higher crime rate, BLEAK outlook, as Koh Tao murderers are still roaming free.

Wouldn't want to get stuck in an elevator with you!

Over the years we collect so much trash, so called friends included. I see this year as a year to take out the trash to make room and time for the things and people that really matter.

Happy New Year !

Relaxed immigration regulations for long term expats.

Government will show appreciation of long term expats for helping the Thai economy by awarding them 100,000 THB at each yearly visa extension.

No more 90 day reporting, unless you want to stop by and say" hello".

All jobs, volunteer and paid will be opened up to expats , with no work permits required.

Traffic laws will be enforced and it will be safe to travel on Thai roadways.

The BIB will start wearing looser fitting uniforms and become more relaxed themselves.

Law enforcement will be paid a good living wage and realize it is not worth taking tea money and putting their good jobs in jeopardy.

The exchange rate of USD/ THB will continue to rise in favor of those with income from outside of the country.

Flakey, intoxicated, sexpats will stay home and help improve the image of expast country wide.

I have a dream!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Just won the Euro millions lottery jackpot............then I woke up!

Happy New Year to all.

That's funny.

My dream last night:

I was in Brussels as a boy (never been actually) and there was a boat parade in a river in a large city park with men in fancy 17th century costumes with poodle wigs (something about a celebration for the elite), and I had committed a hit and run accident driving a beat up old Cadillac leaving the park so I went back in but I was stuck there because it was all over the news that they would arrest the first car to drive out of the park carrying a large mattress and I also hadn't eaten all day because the one restaurant in the park didn't have any dishes I cared to eat even though very hungry and there was also a major sports team in Brussels ("The Angels") that wanted to recruit me but I knew that things would get sticky once I left the park and the sports team would be less interested, then there was a subplot in the same dream where I was googling words and actual objects would appear in my room, this time two fancy baskets with a price tag of 2000 dollars each and I didn't know where to return them to so I put them in a pan with a layer of grease so I soiled their bottoms so ruined anyway ... many other details and characters I forget ... woke up relieved that the Brussels police weren't really after me ... can't imagine I would like the jail food.

(Perhaps I am trying to channel tutsiwarrior in his victory lap but with acid flashbacks ...coffee1.gif )

Happy New Year.

Perhaps subconsciously, you are feeling a trifle inferior. Soiled bottoms, fancily dressed men with poodles and greasy baskets may have something to do with an insecure adolescence. I recommend therapy.

You may not believe this but while I worked in Saudi Arabia (some time between 1979 and 1983) a foreign (German, if my memory serves me correctly) construction company had to import shiploads of Sand for construction of the then new airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Reason was that the local sand was to fine (not coarse enough) for the airport buildings they were building.

Sounds, crazy, but I remember it happening.

Guesses:

  • A brief rise in the Baht to Dollar rate .... with the U.S Dollar above 33 Baht to a Dollar. Then possibly back to around 32 or less to Dollar by the end of the year.
  • Greek elections will force a "re-negotiation" of the "bailout " deal with Greece. Depending on reults, this could mean problems for the Euro rate against the Baht.
  • Oil prices will not rebound this year. Oil revenues for exporters will be below last years.
  • King Abdullah in Saudi Arabia may become ill or even die. Turmoil possible there.
  • More political problems in the U.S. (2016 is an election year, and 2015 will be a contentious year for that reason). That will cause economic problems for the U.S, by the end of 2015.

That's only guesses, but that's what I'll guess now.

I'm not biting into this, as my good friend David advised me before.

But, we Greeks are very wise, in fact brilliant and not like some members, that never voted for me in the POTY.

I believe ......you voted for me, so you are excused........

Think we don't need a crystal ball to see that the future will bring more corruption, more violence, less fun, less freedom and less quality of living in Thailand. I wished for a long time for a light on the horizon, but reading about providers now free to block emails and web content on their own without approval was another nail in the coffin for Thailand in my opinion. This country is on a downward path towards communism disguised as pseudo democracy. Looking at myself in the mirror, I am at shock realizing that I have invested all I have in this country

No doubt that dream would be a Freudian analysts pipe dream but really there were so many other characters and related plot lines I can't remember that I'm not sure it would be clean enough to be accurate.

I feel a poem coming on ........

The future

What does it hold, the future I mean,

Unlike the past, it remains to be seen.

Will corruption be quashed? Will oil prices rise?

Will critical thinking be embraced by the Thais?

There are so many questions filling our heads,

We all seek the answers in Thai Visa threads.

The New Year is upon us, the future ahead,

A brand new mattress on JT’s bed.

Costas has badgers, they keep him amused,

Mr. Bitey and Nancy, now they are confused.

Soi Biker has blossomed, coming into his own,

And David’s a Saint for the compassion he’s shown.

The future contains all kinds of things,

But let’s all be patient, and see what it brings.

I live for the moment, as it passes me by,

Extracting the happiness, shift on the fly.

JT is so happy to finally win this award,

The battle now over, he puts down his sword.

A new bed to lie on, a title to wear

The victor rejoices with spoils to share.

Roses are red,

violets are blue.

I hate poems

even more than I hate you.

Totally agree with you. Family is the important ones. Friends people don't seem to be able to distinguish between real friends and acquaintances of which I have many. Friends? Maybe one true friend.

A true friend is someone who gives with out seeking reward and these people are few and far between

Happy New Year to all TV members

The immigration procedure of reporting will improve for ex-pats...Thai women will love farangs because they are so handsome...will not ask farangs to be a personal banker for the extended Thai family...Thais will begin to drive in an orderly and courteous manner...Thai government will agree to a constitution...and the people will agree...and that Santa Claus will take a selfie for all the world to see...
