North Korean leader open to summit with South

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, in a nationally televised New Year's Day speech, says he is open to a summit with his South Korean counterpart.

Kim said he sees no reason why there should not be a summit with South Korean President Park Geun-hye or high-level talks if Seoul sincerely wants better ties. He also said his country will strengthen its military and economy.

The 30-minute speech was the third Kim has delivered on New Year's Day, and the first after the end of the traditional three-year mourning of the death of his father, Kim Jong Il, in late 2011. Some analysts believe that with the mourning period over, Kim will pursue policies that more closely reflect his own personal priorities.

".. no reason why there should not be a summit with South Korean .."

Dear Leader aparently has forgotten about an important action he took in March 2013. He declared the 1953 armistice agreement invalid and placed North Korea in a state of war with South Korea. How can South Korea give any serious credibility to any summit meeting with communist North Korea, especially for the reunification? West Germany was only able to achieve reunification with communist East Germany after the Soviet Union collapsed and abandoned all its surrogate satellites. Communist North Vietnam achieved reunification with South Vietnam after it conquered the South.

There can only be reunification between North and South Korea when North Korea collapses internally and China decides reunification is a better alternative than its direct annexation of North Korea a la Putin-style.

Put a big piece of cheese inside a cage and lure him in and then close the trap.

Send him to the next space launch to the moon and tell him it's made of green cheese. We'll all be happier.

Unbelievable! As if North Korea has better ties than what's available in Seoul. Seoul has magnitudes of fashion shops where one can choose from all the designers around the world! Hah, it's Kim who is desperate for a better tie and he is pretending it's Seoul...what a child. On the other hand, the 'summit' suggestion to find a tie that suits the haircut is the way to go. tongue.png

This policy of aggression followed by offers of talks has served North Korea well over the last few decades. It always reaps rewards. It is part of North Korea's "Dangerous, but Weak, yet Crazy" strategy which has ensured the survival of the country and the Kim dynasty.

North Korean ties could be the next big thing, if this goes ahead!
