Anti-drunk driving campaign reduces number of patients suffered from car accidents

The Public Health Minister, Mr. Pinij Jarusombat, is satisfied with the anti-drunk driving campaign during the festive holidays, as the number of patients who undergone brain surgery from car accidents over the first four months of this year has declined by more than half.

Following the enforcement of the anti-driving campaign, more motorcyclists have begun to wear safety helmets and avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. From the first four months of this year, only 978 people underwent brain surgery, with a total cost of 31.2 million baht. Last year, the figure was 1,875 people and the total cost was 61.5 million baht.

The anti-drunk driving campaign will be promoted continually, while hospitals and clinics nationwide will be reinstructed to have doctors be ready to take care of patients who have been affected by car accidents during various festivals.
