Hi everyone.

I am looking to buy a converter suitable for an 1800 watt electrical appliance that has a high initial

power surge. It is recommended to get 2-3 times the wattage rating for this type of appliance (electric grill),

so I am looking for either a 5000 watt or 10,000 watt rated voltage converter. I'm pretty sure I can get one at Pantip,

but does anyone know about how much they cost? I would go check myself, but I'm still in the states

and want to bring the grill back with me.

Hmmmm, don't know about the cost of the voltage converter but have you checked online the local cost here for an electric grill? Seems to me I've seen such for as little as baht 1,500.

5-10kW is a pretty meaty transformer, going to weigh in at 15-20kg and be about 250mm on a side when in its box, a beast.

Cost? A good question but a quick look on AliExpress nets figures of several hundred dollars a pop

Is there anything special about this grill that makes it worth that much pain?

The Voltage Stabilizers sold at Global House have 110V and 220V outputs, and have models available up to 100A.

here's a 5000 watt converter for $120. May have cheaper, was just a quick search.
