Urgent Address Translation From Thai To English Please!

I need to register a new important online service but I only have my address in Thai, I know what my address sounds like in Thai but I'm worried that my translation will not be understood

Can someone please just confirm what I have been able to descipher below:

Thanks jdinasia, the 'Ging' part is exactly what my partner said with the 'G' as in goose, as opposed to the 'G' as in Ginger, but do you think without 'Ging' my address will still be understood ok?

So this is what I should write:

ging does in fact fit very well there , ging amphur means sub district.

ging , by itself means 'branch' , as in ging mai , a branch or a twig.

The sound that sounds like 'g' to most of us is written 'k' in the official transliteration system employed by the Royal Institute which is used on signs (and in most other transliteration systems too). The actual sound is not quite as soft as a 'g'.

The one that sounds like 'k' is written 'kh'.

By the way, you can shorten it a bit by reducing the house number and the mubaan number to simply numbers. For example if yours is house #25 in mubaan #8 then the first line of the address can be written as below.

I am another who is unfamilar with king Amphoe as part of an address and always assumed that the Tambon was the sub-district of an Amphoe.

Are you sure? 25/8 normally means hived off part 8 of plot 25, especially with street names. What I think would work with this address is, assuming the numbers are 25 and 8:

25 Moo 8 (Ban Don Phaeng)

Bung Khla

(Bung Khla)

Nong Khai 43140

I believe the bits in parentheses are optional, but I may be wrong about being able to omit the name of the tambon if it's the same as the name of the amphoe. Strictly following the RTGS, 'Moo' should be 'Mu', but I don't recall seeing it.

That is the pattern I am familiar with. Note however that the places with the same first number are quote close to one another, not in different villages. Using 25/8 for plot 25 in village 8 seems unsafe - but I could be wrong. I don't actually know of any addresses for subdivided plots in villages identified by number. 'Plot-number/flat-number street-name' has also worked, but that may just be because the original plot was not subdivided, but used for the condo in its entirety.

I have found that many addresses differ from one another but if for rural areas you have the name of the recipient and the village name then it will find the person you want it to find.

I can't speak for the urban areas, but in the rural areas the mubaans (villages) are numbered within each tambon so that there is no need to write down the name of the village on an address. despite this many people will write down the village name although it is redundant.

So 25 / 8 tells the postman that the envelope is to be delivered to house number 25 in village number 8 of the cited tambon. In the even more isolated areas there may be several villages grouped together to form a single unit. In those cases all letters may all be delivered to the headman's house (phuu yai baan) or his designated assistant phuu chuay phuu yai baan for further delivery to the individual.

Amazingly, incomplete addresses, both in Thai and in the occasional English, do usually make it to even the most remote locations.
