Hi,

I need to dash across the border tomorrow. In the last year I have scooted down to PP for a few days with AirAsia but unfortunately thats not possible this time as I have family visiting.

Is Aranyaprathet still the best crossing for me ? Haven't been there for a couple of years and last time it was a real shiv hole, or are there any new border points that are quiter and cleaner ? Grateful to hear anyones recent experiences.

I will be driving so no problems with the bus/visa run company.

Also, does the rule of showing 10K cash apply, or is that only "up north" ?

I tried to search but my TOT ADSL is running at tortoise speed as usual.

Many Thanks

INTJ.

There is another crossing that most services now use but do not know details so will have to wait for someone who has gone that route to provide. But Arun should be ok on a non holiday except for the normal hands out policy on the other side.

Name of the crossing is Ban Laem ,which is also much closer from Rayong .

For yr convenience you can still use one of the Pattaya operators as they pass Rayong and at least one company has a meeting time and Pick up point at the Big C .

Contact number can be provided, if needed.

If you drive alone , pls drive to Chantaburi , turn north on 317 and drive up to road 3210 ,near the Soi Dao Highland Golfcourse. The road is well posted.

Do not use the first road 3193 in Pong Nam Ron as this route is bit confusing.

If you can , buy a copy of THINKNET map about Central &Eastern Thailand ,THB 120.-,IMO the best map available.

Passport and 1 photo is required.

Exactly it has 2 borders in this area. The nearest from Rayong would be PRUM and the other more a bit in the north is DUANG in Ban Laem. But what 'visarunner' said the way in Pong Nam Ron can be a bit confusing.

My neighbor was there last friday with his own car and was very surprised how quickly and easy it was.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Would I be better going to Prum or Ban Laem ? Which one did your neighbour go to ?

Thanks.

Go to Ban Laem , no need for the Cash rule.

If no Tourbus is there you can finish in 15-20min .

The officials in Prum might try to collect a little more and the last 5-6km are a dirttrack .

Hi Visarunner,

Thanks for all the info, its very helpful. What time would you recommend I leave Rayong, and approx how long does it take to drive ?

Cheers.

Traveltime : I would estimate appr 2Hour15min-2Hour30min one way from Rayong.

"PeakTime " in Ban Laem during the week is 10.45to12.00 , but even the BKK buses do not carry many people at the moment and it's midweek anyway.

Guess you can choose anytime for your trip.

Have a nice and safe Run.
