January 6, 201511 yr I am looking to sink a borehole to supplement my intermittent local water supply. Found a local guy who has been in the business for years and has a very good rep. I was hoping to sink it near to my existing water tank to minimize pipe/electrical work. Unfortunately a recently erected carport means that access is restricted so it looks like it will have to be in a more visible location. The guys tells me that he can make it "completely invisible".... I appreciate that pipes will need to come up at some point but is he right? Can the finished product be that well hidden??
January 6, 201511 yr It can be done, drop the bore then build a box flush with the surface for the pump (if not submersible), run the pipes underground from inside the box. Stick a pot plant on the lid to complete the illusion. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
January 6, 201511 yr Author It's going to be a submersible. It's likely to be in a grassed area so I was hoping to re-turf afterwards. Sounds like it can be done. Thanks.
January 6, 201511 yr With downhole pump you only need a power cable and the discharge pipe from the bore so as long as the well cap and bore cover are discreet it should be easy to camoflage with some well placed flowers or a bush. You can't cover it entirely as you will sometimes need access to the the bore/pump for maintenance. make sure he uses stainless steel wire to act as a safety line to support the downhole pump. The knob who did mine wanted to use a piece of manila rope !

I've read about safety lines somewhere else so will be keeping a close eye on the whole job.

Where abouts do you live gashead, and about how much are you expecting to pay for the whole setup? we dont have government water, here in hua hin, so may consider something similar if not too pricey

Where abouts do you live gashead, and about how much are you expecting to pay for the whole setup? we dont have government water, here in hua hin, so may consider something similar if not too pricey I am in a village near Korat and have been quoted 70k for everything - hole, pump, pipes, trenching and electrical work. A bit pricey for this area but the guy has been around for years and done lots of good work locally so I am confident (as much as you can be here) that I'd get a good job. The location of the bore is making me think twice though as I wanted something less obtrusive. As much as they tell me it will be hidden I am not convinced. My wife loves her garden and my life would be a living hell if it didn't work out as advertised, I've read up on this a lot and generally it seems that you get what you pay for. But I too am a novice at this kind of thing.

January 9, 201511 yr 50 meters that is a fair price for the borehole. especially if that includes the submersible & the pipes & electrical hookups. Our neighbor paid 90,000 for 35 meters with a Franklin 1& 1/2 hp submersible. That is in Pattaya area so the prices are higher than your area for sure.
