January 7, 201511 yr No neither can Chiang Mai afyter Dec. 1rst. You will need to go to Bangkok twice. It has become easier just to go to Laos for a non-o
January 7, 201511 yr Author So Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket, Chiang Mai can not do a conversion of either a visa exempt or tourist visa to start the process of retirement extension. Are there any other immigration office in Thailand that this pertains to?
January 7, 201511 yr Perhaps Hat Yai but I have seen no posts anybody getting one there. It may be that Bangkok is going to be the only place to do it and it will take 2 trips because you have to go back after 15 days to get the visa/entry stamps. They also enforce the 15 day minimum remaining on an entry rule. For most people going out for a non-o visa may be the best option.

January 7, 201511 yr As far as I know there is no place to do a conversion based upon retirement in the northeast. It would be easy to get a single entry non-o in Vientiane.

January 7, 201511 yr Did you specifically ask them about doing it for retirement. They are authorized to do them for working, education and investment.

It was probably just changing the reason for your extension or using a non-b to get an extension of stay based upon retirement or marriage,
