Might sound like a silly question, but did a Doctor actually EXAMINE her?

Reason I ask, is that various Doctors I have seen here (I won't mention which Doctors...or is that... WITCH Doctors?) don't even take the trouble to do an examination.

Example: I have a sore throat!

Doctor writes a script for Medication. No Examination, no Stethoscope, no looking down throat.

I have a constant itch in one ear.

Doctor tells me to "never put anything smaller than my little finger in my ear." Doesn't look into ear and writes a

script for ointment to be administered directly to the "ITCH" twice per day....presumably using Little Finger to poke

the ointment into my ear, rather than using a cotton bud.

I have numerous Moles etc over my body from too much Suntanning in my youth. My old GP in another country

used to pay particular attention to these, doing a close examination through a scanning device. Every so often

he'd spot a potentially nasty "spot" slice it off and send it for a biopsy.

None of that here in Thailand, the alleged Skin Specialist passes a casual glance over the spots, finds a couple

that need to be zapped with his bottle of compressed Liquid Nitrogen, blasts them and sends me on my way till

the next scheduled visit.

Sort of thinking I might have to Fly home to see my former GP to be sure that things are not going to become

malignant. In short..not Inspired with Confidence.... what about you?

Things must have changed a lot since I migrated from the UK to Oz in 1989.

In those days they wanted copies of X rays supplied in the application along with a whole file from the hospital that included our medical history.

A Doctor that gives you confidence is not easy to find in any country.

Don't blame Thailand, take the time to find a good GP, then stick to them.

Maybe try finding who your friends use?

Try asking on the forum perhaps?

Who in the Embassy can read xrays?

The Embassy receives the Doctors report, all clear or not is all they need to know.

There are certainly some quack doctors in Thailand, but the Australian immigration uses a panel of approved doctors.

From my own experience when I applied for an Oz skilled migrant visa here, the panel doctor did a thorough medical exam, covering all the required areas. When the medical is complete they post the results directly to immigration, so that they can't be tampered with.

The medical I had was extensive, and included all the usual diagnostics, plus a chest x-ray and an HIV test.

They do x-rays, HIV test + other blood, urine test, eyes, teeth. Report is sent electronically to the embassy. They did not do any vaccinations nor did not check for any history of them.

Vaccinations are a personal choice, not mandatory.
