B visa extensions to 12 month retirement extension.

Featured Replies

Could anyone tell me if Immigration BKK, still change B visa extensions (2.5 months left to run) to 12 month retirement extension.

I know Jomtian have stopped doing this service in October.

Reason only 2 pages left in my passport.

Many thanks in advance.

Paul.

What has stopped are conversion from a visa exempt entry or tourist visa to a non-immigrant visa.

You already have a non-immigrant visa and are simply changing your reason of stay in Thailand. There Is no problem doing that at any immigration office. You can and will need to use the office for the area where you live.

Thanks Mario just some very conflicting news going around.

Was told by my local Imm office I couldn't maybe BKK could.

Told I had to leave stop my B visa and come back on an O visa

Sounds like the usual left hand right hand thing.

Thanks Mario.

Paul

There are some immigration offices that will not allow you to change the reason for your extension to retirement. It is not correct but every immigration offices can have their own policy.

If they refuse I suggest you go out for a single entry non-o visa.

Since you are short on passport pages a trip to Penang would be the best choice because you would not need a visa for Malaysia.
