Hi friends

I'm sure someone here can put me straight on this.

I'm a 35 year old British passport holder.

I'm getting married to my Thai fiance later this year. I plan to enter the country on a tourist visa and get married. Am I right in thinking that I would then have to return to the UK and apply for a Non immigrant 'O' visa and then travel back to Thailand and convert to a 1 year marriage visa?

Also am I getting the right information that I could hypothetically stay in Thailand indefinitely on a Non immigrant 'O' just by doing a border run every 90 days instead of converting to the marriage visa and showing 400,000+ baht and still having to report to an immigration office every 90 days and having to get a re-entry permit if I left the country and wish to re-enter on the same visa? As far as inconvenience goes there doesn't seem to be much difference between the 2... That is if I have been given the correct information.

Thank you in advancesmile.png

You would not need to return to the UK, you can get the non-imm O visa in Laos or by conversion in Bangkok. And then the extension. Reporting can be done by mail (most offices).

You can get a non-o visa at a nearby embassy or consulate based upon marriage.

You have the choice of getting a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage that will give you 90 day entries for year. You have to leave the country every 90 days.

Or getting a single entry non-o via and applying for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only or proof of 40k baht income. You would then make 90 day reports to immigration.
