District governor in Kampot reprimanded

In a letter published online yesterday, the Anti-Corruption Unit slapped a Kampot district governor on the wrist for not clearly posting public service fees and for overseeing a racket that allegedly solicited bribes in exchange for expediting paperwork.

“Slow work in the district can make people perceive it as the method to make money from public service. In order to ensure good governance … you should display the price of the services clearly,” said the letter to the Chumkiri District Governor Kheiv Rith Phorn.

Phorn denied the accusations, saying, “There was no irregularity under my supervision. I have been so careful with all the officials below me. They do not dare to do corruption.”
