Sandman77
When this airport closed? I not find any flight?
KhunBENQ
Often asked. No scheduled passenger flights ever. Last exception I remember was for Asian Games 2007.
ovenman
THAI used to fly this as a daily scheduled route to/from Bangkok about fifteen years ago,
55Jay
"Build it and they will come" doesn't always work. Story goes it's too far away from the city itself, and the average member of population would rather avoid the hassle and/or extra cost of getting there, and just take a bus or catch a ride to BKK. It was in the news recently as a potential aircraft maintenance facility.

South
Thai had scheduled flights there years ago, 500 Baht a seat, 1000 to go biz class and saved you the 4hr drive ... very convenient. Seem to remember there being military aircraft there then too.
soihok
Used to use it until the flights stopped. Last flight I took from it was in 2002
KhunBENQ
Seem to remember there being military aircraft there then too. Korat airbase is one of the biggest in the country. Countless photos and even videos of US airmen being there during the Vietnam war. (in a group with U-Tapao and Udon Thani) I assume civil flights were always in the fringes. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Vietnam-War-Years-of-Korat-Royal-Thai-Air-Base/151193004893638 http://www.frontiernet.net/~freitag/Korat/index.html Edited January 18, 2015 by KhunBENQ

james512
Kan Airlines are advertising a Korat to Chiang Mai flight on their website. Couldn't see a timetable though... http://www.kanairlines.com/main/
Thanyaburi Mac
Korat MILITARY field is almost right downtown Korat. Used to be used by Thai for their civil flights long ago. Then some politician who had vacant land out east of Korat city, perhaps 20+ km, got the government to buy it for a new CIVIL airport. One or two airlines did fly into it for a few years, stop and start service, so to speak. Not very popular as given driving and waiting times, turned out to be only a little faster than driving or busing down the Friendship Highway to Bangkok, thus no air service now.
