My first extension of ED visa expires next week. I already have the papers from MOE etc, so I'm supposed to go to CW do the next extension soon.

But for some reason, this extension will be one month only. And for some reason, I will have to go to Laos no matter what after this one, to continue with ED visas.

My plan is basically to stay in Thailand until Songkran, and fly back to my country (end of April), enjoy the European summer, and probably come back in Thailand around September.

So my question is, can I simply give up on this ED visa thing (which is a hassle anyway), go to Laos next week, and get a tourist visa (valid for 60+30 days)? Do I need a cancellation letter from my school or something?

Bonus question, if I apply for double entry tourist visa in Vientiane, will I be able to use the second entry in September? Or will it expire before?

I appreciate your help.

You can get a tourist visa without a problem. If you are going to Vientiane for the visa you will need a letter from your school to cancel your extension.

A two entry visa would only have 90 days validity so not an option for you.

Alright thank you ubonjoe, do I also need this cancellation letter if I fly to Phnom Penh and get my visa there?

If I fly one day after my extension, I will just have to pay a 500 TBH fine isn't it? No extra hassle?

And there it takes 3-4 days am I right?

If you were to fly to anywhere to get your visa you would not need the cancellation letter. It is only at the bridge in Nong Khai that you need the letter. If you went to Savannakhet you would not need it.

PP is up to 4 days to get a visa unless you use an agent.
