Hello everyone,

this topic has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything that covers the Non-O Visa for volunteers.

I am planning to make a run to Vientiane next week to get the Non-O Visa there.

So I am not married to a Thai woman or something, but will be enrolled as a volunteers worker.

What do I need to bring when applying for this Visa in Vientiane?

Thanks for the infos in advance!

You need to bring a petition letter ad copy of their credentials from the organization for which you will work.

I can apply for a work-permit without having the needed visa?

So right now I am confused:

1.) Visa for Volunteer work is the Non-O Visa, right? I can not find any information about that, only about Non-O Visa for married people or retirement...

2.) So I need the application form I guess, with photos etc.. and how much does it cost? I read 5000 TB, is that correct?

3.) A friend of mine told me I need a letter of invitation from the organisation, a bank statement of yours showing 20,000 bt equivalent. Also the organisation certificate showing it's registration number

4.) Another source told me I need the following:

"

รูปถ่ายขนาด 3 x 4 ซม. 3 รูป
2. 4 cm. x 6 cm. pictures ( 10 photos)

But I am actually not sure, if that is for the Visa or the work-permit. That's why I opened this topic, just to clarify.
Please advise
Thanks

So right now I found the following information on the website of the Thai consulate in Saigon:

2. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  • Visa application form completely filled out
  • Recent (4 x 6 cm.) photograph of the applicant
  • Recommendation letter addressed to the Consulate
  • Copy of registration certificate of the employer/foundation/organisation
  • Copy of the previous/current work permit (if any)
  • Copy of the employment contract (if any)
  • Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary

3. VISA FEE

80 USD

Is that correct and also the same in Vientiane?

Thanks

Okay, so I found the information on the website of the Thai Consuluate:

For the purpose of voluntary services, documents required are;
1. Recommendation letter addressed to the Embassy, coupled with the certified copy of the endorser's ID
or passport and work permit in Thailand
2. Copy of registration certificate of the employer/foundation/organisation
3. Copy of the previous/current work permit (if any)

So the fee is 2000 THB for single entry,

anyone knows, if I can apply for the multiple entry? Is it then 5000 THB?

You can apply for a WP without having the actual visa. You only make the application and get papers confirming you have applied, which the consulate might want to see. Once you have obtained the actual visa, you will get the work permit.

Multiple entry visas are hard to get. If you have applied for a work permit you could certainly try to get a multiple, but don't be surprised if they tell you they only issue a single. A multiple will indeed be 5,000 baht.

The big list you posted is for a work permit.

You will not get a multiple entry visa in Vientiane. They do not do them.

I think you will be able get a single entry without the work permit.

I go to Vientiane every three month to get my non O volunteer visa. Here is what I hand in at the consulate.

1. Original Invitation Letter from the organization addressed to Thai Consulate in Vientiane and signed by organization's official

2. Copy of organization registration with Thai Gov't

3. Copy of the person's passport who wrote the invitation letter

4. Copy of the person's work permit

5. Application (of course) along with two mugshots

6. Copy of your passport - photo page, Laos visa and stamp page

Hope I didn't leave anything out.

Please note that all the copies supplied by the organization's official have to be signed by that person.

All the copies you supply have to be signed by you.

They don't usually ask for any bank statement or financial proof. I made three visa trips to Vientiane last year and thank God it's been problem free.

Hit me up if you need more info. Hope your preparation and the trip goes well.

Cheers~!

If you have a work permit, as you should, than you can normally get extensions of stay from immigration. These will be for 90 days at a time and after 1 year you must leave the country and apply for a new visa.
