Landslide block Surat Thani-Phang Nga road

PHANG NGA: -- A landslide triggered by flash floods early Saturday morning blocked part of the road linking Surat Thani to Phang Nga.

Following several days of heavy rains, a runoff from Khao Sok Mountains hit Ban Thahan Village in Tambon Rommanee of Phang Nga's Kapong district at 2 am. Causing soil, rocks and trees to block the road between Phanom district of Surat Thani and Phang Nga's Takua Pa district.

Vehicles were advised to use another route pending the clearing of the blocked road.

Officials also evacuated 80 families living in the area for fear that more run-offs would happen.
