When transferring a non b visa from your old passport to a new one, do you need to do it in the province it was issued or can it be done anywhere? I.E. if it was issued in chiang mai would the transfer of the visa from old to new passport need to be done there or could it be done in BKK?

Presume you are referring to an Extension of Stay based on Working in the Kingdom of Thailand since visas cannot be transferred (just show old/new passport together).

Extensions and last entry details should be transferred where you got your extension/WP and are registered.

Don't forget to check if your local immigration dept. requires the Embassy issue Transfer Pro forma.

Nope an ED visa. My current passport has the wrong D.O.B. (i didn't notice, seems immigration didn't either) I'm going to stay in Bangkok to sort it all out and want to do the transfer there. The visa was issued in chiang mai though.

As said immigration will do nothing for you if all you have is a visa from an embassy or consulate. You do it on the way out of the country.

If you have an extension of stay you got at immigration they will transfer the stamps.

You will have to do it at Chiang Mai immigration. They will not do it in Bangkok.

they dont transfer anything, you are allowed to use old canceled passport, u use 2 passports

not exactly true;

they recommend you transfer the extension/ 1st stamp entry on the non immigrant visa ( for which you received the extension) , the re entry permit

all done for free at the immigration office where the stamp was obtained
