Switching from ED visa to Tourist

Featured Replies

My husband and I would like to switch from our ED visas (received in late Aug.2014) to tourist visas. We have a lot of travelling to do in the next year and it would make things easier for us. My husband is a UK passport holder and I have a US passport. We are planning a trip to the US in March but our current visas expire on Feb.23rd. We would like to sort this out before leaving. Otherwise we need to leave two weeks earlier than planned and hope that the Thai consulate in the US will grant the tourist visas to both of us. Where would be the best place to go in the region at the moment? Does anyone have experience switching visas? Any advice would be much appreciated!

You both could make a border run and get a 30 day visa exempt entry after you finish your current stay on a ED visa or extension of stay. If the 30 days was not enough you get a 30 day extension.

You husband can get a tourist visa in the states without a problem. You both could probably get 3 entry tourist visas at the embassy in DC or one of the consulates in LA, NY or Chicago in person or by mail. You could also get them in person at one of the honorary consulates.
