Rectangular paper ribbon thing (see pic) that covers bottle caps for spirits etc. What's it called?

I figured I would put some of the bar expertise here to use. Does anyone know if these things (picture) have a proper technical name? Humorous replies welcome of course but I do genuinely want to know! The only Google search that yielded a few results was "paper bottle seal"

I'm guessing these things were originally used as a form of tamper prevention before sealed screw caps were invented. These days they are only there to make a product look a bit posh I suppose.

Think it's for 'tax-seal' as opposed to any type of certification regards bottle sealed, though someone will likely come along to enlighten us after having spent 15 minutes researching G.
