Suvarnabhumi Airport forecasts 9% growth in Q2 passengers

BANGKOK, Feb 4 -- Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport is preparing to cater to larger passenger traffic in the second quarter of Fiscal 2015, which is expected to grow by 9 per cent year on year.

Musician in Phetchabun arrested related to fake Palace announcement

BANGKOK: -- Police Wednesday arrested a musician in Phetchabun for having allegedly involved in a fake announcement from the Royal Household Bureau.


Police Spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri said the man was being detained at the 11th Infantry Battalion for questioning. Prawut said the man had allegedly distributed the fake announcement via Facebook, Twitter and Line social networks since 9 pm on Monday.

KTB to close ATM, some online services early Sunday

BANGKOK: -- Krungthai Bank Plc will close its ATM and some other online services from 2 am to 6 am on Sunday, the bank announced Wednesday.


The closure is necessary for upgrading and enhancing its electronic transaction system, KTB executive vice president Siriporn Nopwattanapong said. The closure will also affect Internet banking system for general users and KTB netbank and KTB Corporate Online as well as KTB Biz Payment at the Don Mueang Airport.

A paperless Thailand: Plans for 700 Thai government agencies to go online


BANGKOK:– Thailand’s Electronic Government Agency (EGA) has announced new plans to introduce a complete cloud storage system to more than 700 Thai government agencies.


The requirement for Thai people to submit a paper copy for their national ID card when dealing with a government agency would be a thing of the past.

27th Music in the Garden features Tik Shiro

Phuket police seize counterfeit goods worth B3 million

Phuket: -- Yesterday afternoon (February 3), in a joint operation between police from Sub-Division 4, Economic Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok (ECSD4) and Patong police, about 3,000 counterfeit goods were seized during raids on three shops in Patong.

BANGKOK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Playboy turns to the classics

BANGKOK: -- Playboy Thailand is organising its first ever Symphony Evening concert next week, an event its press release describes as "a wonderful experience in which magnificent voices harmonise with extraordinary music".

The concert on February 12 at the Muang Ratchadalai theatre is on the theme "Music - Passion - Rhythm". Vocalists Radklao Amaradit, New & Jiew, Neung ETC, Lydia and Two Popetorn will perform both modern numbers and classic songs backed by the 60instrument Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (BSO) under the baton of Damri Bannawittayakij, dean of Silpakorn University's Music Faculty.

Soprano Kittinant Chinsamran from "The Voice" Season 2 and opera singer Teeranai Na Nongkhai will also perform and there will be special surprise shows by Playboy Bunnies.

The concert starts at 7pm and tickets costing Bt1,500, Bt2,200 and Bt3,000 plus VIP tickets with free flow champagne for Bt4,500 are on sale at www.ThaiTicketMajor.com.

Part of the proceeds will cover scholarships for the Faculty of Music, Silpakorn University.

BANGKOK: -- The Transport Ministry will have to study in more details before allowing associated buses to up the bus fare by one baht whereas bus operators have demanded a three-baht increase and have threatened to stop their services if their demand is not accepted within February 10.

Suspect in fake palace statement arrested in Phetchabun

A man has been arrested for allegedly posting the fake statement of the Bureau of the Royal Household in the social media which quickly went viral and prompted the police and the military to launch a manhunt for the culprit.

The suspect, Mr Krit Butdeechine, was arrested in Phetchabun by military at the request of the police after investigation by computer experts traced the fake palace statement to him.

Mr Krit, a musician and an assistant chairman of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) branch in Phetchabun, was reported by police to have confessed that he received the fake palace message from a colleague in the red-shirt movement and posted it in the social media on the night of February 2 because it was a new statement and he would like to share it among his fans.

The suspect, however, added that he deleted the statement after having found some irregularity in the statement.

Mr Krit was today (Wednesday) questioned by Pol Gen Somyos Poompanmuang, the national police chief, and his deputy, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda.

The suspect is facing lese majeste charge and charge for violating Computer Crime Law.
