visa run options

Featured Replies

hi,i am in phuket on a tourist visa and extended it for a month, runs out 16th feb and i fly home april the 20th (bad planning)

i am not sure which visa option to do( or is possible)

could i fly somewhere and on my return get a 30 day visa at airport and then extend for another 30 days for 1900 bht and if i stayed 3/4 nights that visa would take me up to the 20th of april ,avoiding an overstay fine,

or,fly to say penang and go to embassy and get visa that way,and get a 3 month visa (if they do one ?)to take me up to the 20th ??

i am thinking comfort rather than cost at the moment ,my backpacking days are over !!

many thanks

You need to get a tourist visa in Penang. If you re-enter from 20/2 onward you will not need an extension.

sorry to be a pain but is the first option achievable, can you extend your normal 30 day stamp (given at airport) for another 30 days for 1900 bht, just in case i decide to go to the philippines say for a week ??

Yes but the tourist visa is cheaper at about Bt 1,000, saves a boring visit to immigration, and gives you the option of extending further if plan changes. You can also get one in the Philippines if you want, although the consulate is not know to be very pleasant to deal with.

ok thanks again

Forgot to mention, with a tourist visa you can fly to Thailand with no requirements of an outgoing ticket.

Without a visa, the airlines may insist you have a ticket withing 30 day to let you board.
