I will be travelling to Thailand in April on a married to a Thai Non immigrant 'o' hopefully issued in London.

Looking to purchase a new pick up and a new pop pop.

I have a Thai five year Driving Lincence issued in 2011 so still valid, the wife has her own gaff we built 10 years ago, signed the usual form at the Land registry confirming "it's not yours" thing back then, however I do not have a proof of address in Thailand, or like the yellow book thingy or a letter from your Landlord or work

So as well as the filled in Residence form, the 2 passport photos and my Visa page, what else could I take ...?

Also living in Buriram where would be the closest and most reliable immigration office to obtain a couple of certificates ?

Advice please

Thanks

Your wife, a copy of her ID, her house book, and your marriage certificate and a self addressed stamped envelope just in case the guy that has to sign iyt isn't there. It really depends on the office that you use

Kap Choeng immigration office in Surin is the assigned office for Buriram. See. Address and Google Map location of immigration offices

Is the form you have: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/res_cert.pdf

Are they picky about using this exact version of the form? I have one I saved from somewhere before that looks identical except it doesn't have the fancy logo at the top. I would prefer to use mine because it is in Word format which I can fill out on my computer before I print it and keep a saved copy for future.

General info. Buriram DLT is known to accept a certificate of residency letter from your local police. Cost about 100 baht each and a trip to Kap Choeng. Check with the DLT first this could save you time and money.

it varies from office to office. went for one last November in khon kaen. asked the girl at the information desk and was informed photo. passport. and write my address on a piece of paper. of coarse the important item was the 500 thb to pay for it. the girl went away and came back with it in about 3 minutes so no complaints. the 500 thb was very important

It does very from office to office but the OP lives in Buriram therefor his immigration office is Kap Choeng. The DLT in Buriram in the past have accepted this letter from the local police therefor saving a long drive and that 500 baht fee that KCI charges.

Don't bother with the forms. Just turn up (you said you would be 'taking' them so I assume you will physically be there.

Got mine today at Kap Choeng (member kwaibah will be along shortly with the GPS coordinates smile.png ).

In and out in 25 minutes (would have been 20 mins if a tukay had not jumped out of a filing wallet causing much tok jai). Never saw an immigration officer.

Take yourself, passport, one photo. Take your wife, her tabien ban and her ID.

The helpful girl copied them all and got us to sign our respective pages (I put 40 Baht in the photocopy tip box).

She went off to get someone to sign, came back, I paid over the required 500 Baht (no receipt) - job done I was out of there.

Note: IMO you only need one certificate for the car purchase - no point in paying another 500 Baht, the certificates are only valid for 30 days.

Note 2: My Certificate of Residence was for car and motorcy driving licence renewals. I had already asked my local Land Transport Office if an original and a photocopy would suffice - they said "yes".

Could have saved you a trip if you had read my above post.whistling.gif

Incorrect oh wise one.

My LTO had already confirmed that they needed a Certificate of Residence.

I agree, it is worth the OP checking first with his own LTO.

Form in doc format: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/res_cert.doc

I don't post the doc one because people often have trouble with them because of the format.

OK, thanks. Anyone recommend if there is an Immigration Office in Bangkok that would be quicker than Chaeng Wattana for this sort of thing as this is the only one I am familiar with. Also, I heard something about these taking 3 - 6 weeks to get at most places but some process it while you are there. Any confirmation on that?

In Bangkok Chaeng Wattana is the only office that you can use. If you are not making 90 day reports to them they will not do a certificate of residence.

Normal time to get one is about 3 weeks.

Yes, I report there...last one mid January. Will I have to return after 3 weeks for pickup or do they mail it? If the latter, do I need to provide them with anything such as stamped envelope?

They will send it to you by EMS to the address on the certificate. That is included in the 200 baht fee.

Is there an immigration office somewhere around Bangkok that will issue the certificate of residency to people on a tourist visa? My driver's license is about to run out and I'd very much like to renew it.

alternatively, is it an actual possibility to just walk into thonglor police station with the above "APPLICCATION FORM RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE IN THAILAND" and get what i ask for? That would be awesome.

my other way is to fly to phuket and just do everything there, but i'd prefer not to

There have been reports that they will do them at immigration in Pattaya (Jomtien) with a tourist visa.

You could get one from your embassy also.
