Your info has been hacked. Here’s what you should do

Hackers have stolen personal information from tens of millions of people with Anthem health insurance. DMS holds a campaign offering free cataract surgery to the elderly

BANGKOK, 6 Feb 2015, (NNT) - The Department of Medical Services (DMS), together with the private sector and various governmental units, is holding a campaign to give free optical examinations and cataract surgeries to senior citizen of 60 years of age and over, as a belated tribute to His Majesty the King’s 87 birthday anniversary on December 5th last year.

Contributing to the campaign are the Better Vision Group Company Limited, which provides 1.3 million baht worth of phacoemulsification machines, and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, which donated 100,000 baht for the operation expenses.

According to the DMS, more and more people are suffering from cataract as the number of senior citizens constantly grows. A cataract is the clouding of the lens that impairs vision and becomes a major hindrance in nearly every aspect of living. In some severe cases, the symptoms can even lead to blindness.

The Department has come up with a plan to offer treatment to the elderly 60 years of age or older, aiming to offer free surgeries to at least 60,000 patients this year.

People who have vision that is blurry or cloudy or difficulties focusing on an object farther than 3 meters away are urged to contact their optometrist or the nearest hospital.
