Thai Justice Minister discusses drug control with China

BANGKOK, 6 February 2015 (NNT) -The Minister of Justice Gen Paiboon Koomchaya sought ways to strengthen Thailand's drug suppression when he recently met with his Chinese counterpart in China.

On his trip to China, he discussed with the Chinese Justice Minister its success in drug control, as China has fewer drug-related criminal suspects, than Thailand when compared on a population basis.

This might result from drastic law enforcement, good prison structures or effective suspect screening, supported by an appropriate budget. The Chinese success could be a good example for Thailand to follow to improve its drug crackdown. Thai agencies would be sent to observe drug control in China after the meeting.

The Chinese Justice Minister admitted that drugs were transported into China through the southern region. Its control measures were also consistent with those of Thailand. Therefore both countries should further bilateral cooperation on the issue, as Mekong Sub-region members.

Gen Paiboon also had a chance to discuss with the Chinese Attorney General, its anti-corruption policy, some of which could potentially be applied to the Thai policy.

In late January, Thailand and China jointly launched the Safe Mekong Coordination Center (SMCC) as part of Mekong Sub-regional cooperation between four nations namely Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and China.

Maybe if there was Rule of Law in Thailand sending corrupt BIB to prison along with politicians there would be drastic changes. Is Thailand going to follow China into the practice of executing corrupt officials? LOL

Actually, I've been a proponent for legalization of drugs. Why not? And no I don't take any. Hell alcohol is legal, and how does that substance generally impact various societies?
