reasonable price to pay lawyer for visas etc.

Featured Replies

In peoples experience what would you say is a reasonable price to pay a Thai lawyer who was going to sort out a business visa, work permit and a limited company for you?

A one Year Work Permit costs 3,100 THB.

The Government fees to register a 2 million THB company currently work out to around 11,000 THB.

So let's say 15,000 THB with around half a day's work in total for a lawyer to prepare all the papers, including your non 'b' visa application at say Penang, plus a day in total time for a clerk to file/collect the papers at Labour and the Ministry of Commerce.

So in my view, anything over 20,000 THB is expensive.

Thanks digitalchromakey, thats the figure I had in my mind, happy to get it confirmed.

Answers to this thread should consider that generally speaking, to "sort out" means providing a sham company, with nominees Thai shareholders, then preparing the "accounting" required, taxes and social security payments for the Thai "employees". In the hope that Immigration will be OK with all that, to the point of issuing an extension of stay, and no inspection and proof of the company to actually exist will be performed.

All the above normally cost a lot more than few thousands, and of course will be a recurring cost.

Thank you for your reply. You are wrong in what you say. It will not be a sham company but a genuine company for genuine business purposes.

Maybe I should have used the words 'set up' but where I come from the words sort out does not necessarily mean what you have interpreted it as

If you can find a lawyer that will do all the above for 20K please PM me or post their contact details....Realistically at least double and more likely treble that figure.

I agree with PattayaPhom. Last time I looked around it was around 50-60k baht here in Pattaya so please share if you find for much cheaper then that.

I would also say good luck with your business.

It's much the same as calling in a plumber to change a tap washer in the UK.

5p for the washer, £15.00 for the labour, and £50.00 for knowing how to do it.

I would think it's going to cost you more like ฿50,000 for the items you require but I'd be interested to know the final figure.

Firms advertise their prices for services on the internet. One well known firm's service: Company Setup, tax set up, visa =96000 TB.

Merely pointed out what it actually costs to set up a legitimate registered company; there is no accounting for how much a lawyer/accountant will try to charge you.

Pay what you like, but do understand that the fee (pretty much anything over the 15,000 THB government fees) is for around half a day's work by the lawyer and about a day's work for a clerk plus petrol/travel costs.....

Personally wouldn't use a law firm as it would, in my opinion, be a waste of money.
