webfact Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 DIT prepares measures to prevent vendors from practicing unfair trading during Chinese NYBANGKOK, 11 February 2015, (NNT) - The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) has visited local markets in the capital and reported no signs of overpriced products. Nevertheless, the department has begun implementing measures to prevent vendors from practicing unfair trading during the Chinese New Year celebrations.The DIT conducted a random inspection in Bangkok’s Tanommit Market in Bang Khen District. DIT Deputy Director-General Suchart Sinrat said the prices of Chinese New Year commodities remained stable, with pork products at 130 baht per kg and chicken products at 80 baht per kg. He said these rates have decreased from last year due to a surplus in stock.Mr. Suchart added that ready-made meals in Tanommit Market were sold at 30-40 baht per dish, in accordance with price suggestions made by the DIT.However, the department chief conceded that the prices of fruits were relatively high, citing oranges being sold at 33-100 baht per kg.Mr. Suchart told the media that his department instructed officials to conduct frequent inspections to ensures fair trading during the Chinese New Year festivities. Camelot Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Why limit the crackdown on "unfair trading", overcharging and price-gouging to Chinese New Year? Such practices are rampant the whole year round.
