Man hospitalized after failed wall fall

PHUKET: One man is in critical condition with a serious head injury at Vachira hospital after the wall he was attempting to knock down yesterday (Friday the 13), knocked him down instead.

At 4.20pm yesterday, Friday the 13, Kusoldham rescue waters responded to an alert that a construction worker had been seriously injured by a collapsed brick wall in Phuket town’s Rassada neighborhood.

Arriving to the seen, on the route between Rajbhat Phuket and Thai Village, at lot number 25 of the Moo 6 community, rescue workers met property owner Mr Suwit Akchu, 47, who led them to the victim lying on his back surrounded by a pile of bricks, fallen from a concrete-reinforced property wall.

The victim, identified as Jansa Sorsoongnern, 26, from Saraburi, was conscious and responsive to rescue workers, though had lost a lot of blood from an apparent head injury.

The man was administered oxygen and transported to Vachira hospital.

Mr Suwit told authorities that he had hired Mr Jansa for B2,500 to dissemble the wall, to make way for a new house construction project. According to Mr Suwit, Mr Jansa had been working hard since the late morning. Authorities suspect he may have worked too hard and quick to knock down the wall, which ended up knocking him down instead.

Think you meant to say Safety first is not a priority in Thailand. Personal safety is just not in the thinking.

Sad to read and hopefully the man will recover without permanent injury.

Seems to be a land where anyone can engage in hazardous work without proper training, equipment, insurance, etc.

Perhaps, The Department of Labor Safety and Welfare (Yes, there is one) needs check into this one. It doesn't sound like a large construction/demolition project, but I wasn't there.

yes just reiterate, garage by me and a machine shop, welding with no goggles, working lathes wearing flip flops, the list goes on

I think you will find that anyone in any "land" can knock a wall down on their own property if they choose regardless of training, equipment, blah, blah, blah... This is not a phenomenon peculiar only to Thailand.
