Thai ED visa medical needed ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm from Bangladesh. Our university arranged a study tour in Thailand. So we applied for tourist visa at Thai embassy in Bangladesh through VFS. But the THAI Embassy approved us non immigrant visa. Is it necessary to do any kind of medical test to go to Thailand under non immigrant visa ?

Thank you.

From memory, the only time you should need a medical examination, is when you are initially applying for the visa (But from what I gather you already have it), or alternatively when you are extending it beyond the initial 3 months.

But whether one is required or not at these stages, depends on what type of Non-Immigrant visa you have and whether they actually request it or not. Generally though, I don't think that they require the medical certificate (At least I didn't need one for my initial Non-Immigrant B visa, but that was 4 years ago. And immigration have never required one for my visa extensions based on marriage or employment, although I did need to show one to the Dept of Labour for my work permit).

I'm going to move this to the visa section of the forums, as they'll likely have more experience with the most recent immigration policies etc. Also can you post with which type of Non-Immgirant visa you have (Edu or B I would assume?), and will you be staying in Thailand for longer than 3 months?

They didn't give me the visa. After submitting my passport, other documents and visa form they called me on my contact no and asked for NOC. I submitted all my documents in VFS. The next day i went to VFS and submitted the NOC. From the VFS office i came to know that they approved non immigrant visa for us. But we still don't got the visa.

I'm going to Thailand in a study tour. I won't stay longer than 3 months. Actually i'm going there for only a week.

I think they will give us a non immigrant ED visa.

If it's approved already, and you're only staying for a short time, you shouldn't have any problems :)

Was it necessary during your time ? Do you know of any cases which needed medical certificate for initial non immigrant visa ?

I never needed one, however there was conflicting information about it when I initially looked into it. As the Thai consulate's NZ website said I needed one, but the Thai Consulate's Laos website said I didn't. The NZ website actually listed quite a few documents which other consulates didn't seem to require.

I applied via the consulate in Laos, and was never asked for one, likewise friends etc were never asked for one there. These were for non-B visas though, not Edu.

And from memory a retirement visa does require one.
