Three fires hit Bangkok on Chinese New Year celebrations

BANGKOK: -- Three fires hit Bangkok's three commercial areas yesterday but caused no injury to life.

All fires were suspected to link with the lighting of incense sticks to worship ancestors during the Chinese New Year.

The first incident broke out at the third-floor room of a four-storey row commercial building on Chakkrawad road in Phra Nakhon district.

Fire engines arrived in time and put it out in a short time with no injury.

The second fire was reported at Soi Phetkasem 3 road in Thonburi area.

The fire started at a commercial row building and quickly spread.

Firemen reported difficulties to access the scene due to the narrow road and sporadic explosions.

The figure destroyed the whole building after an hour of blazing. Nobody was hurt.

The third fire happened at the storey commercial building on Soi Intamara 55 in Huey Kwang.

The building was a plastic producing factory.

The entire building was burned to the ground.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the three fires but they suspected all were linked to lighting incense sticks to worship ancestors during the Chinese New Year celebrations.
