Extension 1 day late - Possible?

Featured Replies

I'm a newbie here on the forum and I have a small and large visa predicament (2 problems). I entered on a single entry Non-Immigrant O (married to a Thai lady) visa and was stamped in for 90 days. I just noticed that my permission to stay stamp expires tomorrow :-( Would I still be able to go get a short extension on Monday at immigration? I will go very early on Monday, so less than 12 hours overstay.

Secondly, I heard you can get a 60 day extension very easily if you have a Thai family and this is where my bigger problem comes in. My wife will not be able to go with me on Monday, as she is working out of town until Wednesday. We have a 2 year old son together and I am listed on his Thai birth certificate. Could he go with me along with all the documents to apply for a 60 day extension?

If you go on Monday and apply for an extension you will not be charged an overstay fine because your permit to stay ended when immigration was closed.

You could take your son with you to apply for the 60 day extension to visit him. You will need his birth certificate plus a copy and copies of his house book registry. You may also need proof of residence.

They may ask why your wife could not be with you. It would be wise to take your marriage certificate with you and copies of her house book registry and ID card.

If you have a problem getting the 60 day extension you could apply for a 7 day extension and be given 7 days to leave the country.

Hello,

I'm sorry to register in the forum and as a new member and starting by requesting help.

Like the OP I didn't take in consideration that my one month visa exemption expires tomorrow Sunday and the office is closed of course.

I wished to extended for another month, but now I'm not sure what will happen if I come at the immigration office (Chiang Mai) on Monday, will they allow me the extension (1 month) or will I run into trouble because theoretically from Monday I won't have any valid document to stay in Thailand ?

Thanks, Alex

As I wrote in my previous post you will not have a problem because your permit to stay ended on a day immigration is closed as long as go in on the first day they are open.

Just go ot immigration in CM first thing on Monday and apply for your extension.

Thank you so much to answer my question. Thanks a lot to because you seem to freely give your time to help anyone here.
