Adding 30 days to 60 day tourist visa in Chiang Mai ?

Featured Replies

I am hearing from some people here that when I go to extend my 60 day tourist visa the office in Chiang Mai extends the visa by 30 days basing it on the day when I go to the office. In BKK they added 30 days to the date when the stamp expired.

So in Chiang Mai is it any different or is it just that friends told me wrong?

Will they add 30 days based on the date I turn up at the office or 30 days to the expiration date on the stamp in my passport ?

All extensions are added at the end of current permitted stay.

Any idea if Chiang Mai or some office could be different? One person on another forum mentioning that they just got 30 days from the day they went to the office and they were thinking maybe it could be changed if they went back.

Stamping errors are always possible. No reports like that here, ever.

Some will always prefer "rumour" to simple fact !

There are no Thai consulates in the country.

You can apply for a 30 day extension of your 60 day entry at the immigration office in Kap Choeng that is a few kilometers before the Chong Jom crossing.
