PM asks dissenting groups to open way for election first

BANGKOK, 24 February 2015 (NNT) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has urged political groups to refrain from making any move during this period, insisting that the country is progressing towards a general election.

Elaborating on his previous remark, Gen Prayut indicated that certain groups with political motives are planning to hit the streets and stir social unrest in a show of disapproval of his government. He said the information is not a surprise to him as it had already been expected before he came into office.

However, the premier said he would like to ask those groups to hold their horses for the time being and to first allow the reform roadmap to be accomplished and the general election held. He also cautioned that any movement must not violate the law.

In addition, Gen Prayut urged those with dissenting views to accept the fact that the Thai democratic system is flawed and needs an overhaul.
