Three questions about registering a motorbike in CM

Featured Replies

I gave the signed sales form from previous owner, copy of owner's passport (signed), title, my work permit and signed passport copies to an agent. The agent is now telling me the registration office is requesting a slip proving where I live (gotten at CM immigration), *and* a paper proving where the *seller* lives. At this point I told the agent to just give back all of the paperwork, which I should receive tomorrow.

My questions.

1. Do I really need this paper (tee yoo) proving where the seller lives? This seems absurd and have never heard of such a thing. Is it correct?

2. Are there multiple places to register a motorbike in CM, and can I do so regardless of which place in CM it was originally registered?

3. If so, where are all of them located?

I'm really trying to avoid getting the seller to go through the hassle of getting this paper. Not even sure he's willing to go through it all.

Thanks in advance

I think you've just learned a lesson, part with the money and exchange keys when the paperwork is accepted by the transport office.

You need a certificate of residence from immigration, 500B express service, free for 30 day service. At Nong Hoi when I bought off a non-Thai recently, the seller didn't need one but I did.

A work permit will work as an alternative.

Yep, I and the (English) seller of a 2nd hand truck I bought off him, BOTH needed the proof of address/residency.

Held up the sale, as I wasn't gonna hand over THB620k without all the paperwork "done and dusted" within the Transport Department offices.
