ED Visa to Non-B

I'll be leaving to Savannakhet, Lao soon. I am currently am on a ED Visa and changing to Non-Imm B. Do I need to cancel my current visa at immigration if I take a bus over to Lao? Or just leaving will cancel my visa allowing me to get my new one? Also, what about taking a plane?

I have seen no reports of immigration at the bridge in Mukdahan asking for a cancellation letter for a ED extension. If you fly out it certainly would not be needed.

Unless you have a valid re-entry permit your extension will end as soon as you leave.
