  • It could be the so called anal sac disease; my former dog had it too. Every 6 months those anal glands had to be squeezed out, and it relieved him till the next round. See this link and hope it helps

  • My wife tells me the Thai belief is that when the dog does this you will get some out of town visitors. We did.

  • Just wiping his but since you most likely have not trained him to use a "bum gun"! Fleas or ticks because of the soft tissue around the anus.

Try the ice cube, it works honest.

yes leo i can vouch for that, after a night on the scrumpy and then a vindaloo curry i used to sit on a bag of ice cubes, and it does work.thumbsup.gif

better than scratching and getting a soar bum.w00t.gif

Note to self - "Don't go out for dinner with meatboy"

My Dad once told me the doggers back in the old days in Ireland used tobacco to worm their dogs. Roll it up in a ball and toss it down their throat.

Dogs that drag their bum on the ground may not necessarily have worms but that is the best bet.

i had a few nights out with the dog boys in cavan and eniscothy and yes they got me doing the bum shuffle, molly seemed to enjoy it in the TANK in cavan.dont remember the baccy or.

I lived with a vet for several years in the states and we had two dogs, one of them started doing this and she explained to me it was because they had a swollen gland, and it was a very coomonproblem she came across, a few pills sorted it out, take you mutt to a vet.

They have a gland that clog's up , you have to get it cleaned, or put a glove on and do it yourself, a vet can do.

Yes but do it outside. What comes out of blocked anal glands can smell like nothing on earth. P.S. It happens with cats too but they bite when you try.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have never had to do that with cats in my life,

Rubbing little kitties tummies to make them poo is oh so different than sticking my finger up a dogs bum. Which i did do once to help a dog thing to have pups. And it was marvelous. I cried, i had given birth!!!
