I have replaced my Garmin Nuvi with a Nuvi 2467

Featured Replies

How can I download the Garmin Thai maps which come with a lifetime update on to my PC.

I missed the original chance when I first connected the Nuvi to the pc.

I have Garmin Express, basecamp_446, mapinstall_404 and Garmin Mapupdater but NONE of those pos will let me down load from the Nuvi onto the pc.

Can anybody help please?

Eventually I did the worst thing any engineer can do.

I had spent so much time on this, that or the other website and so fed up I actually horror of horrors

READ THE MANUAL very carefully and slowly.

There inside the instructions were smaller and smaller ones until the correct one appeared and with the magic words

"Open Sezme" I found what I needed to know.

However Garmin's Basecamp is still a 3rd class piece of crap compared to MapSource which came before it.

To work on Basecamp and plan a route, I need to load Basecamp EVERY time, have my GPS plugged into my PC and also as I found out this morning I need an internet connection too

This reminds me of what a good friend once told me: "When nothing else helps, read the manual"

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

actually its a large "Sigh" and then pick up the manual

As Eli Wallach used to used to say in the spaghetti westerns

"Manuels, we don't need no stinkin' Manuels"

Actually when I eventually found the answer it was a bit like MapSource used to be like except that with Basecamp you HAVE to have the GPS plugged in all the time and the internet HAS to be working as well and Garmin Express has to come on line too.

With MapSource you could download the maps from the GPS to the pc and work as a stand alone but NOT with Basecamp.

Perhaps OK with the Garmin techies but not very customer friendly.
