North-eastern Thais Praise Foreign Husbands

Only in Thailand and Issan do the poor who beg for money think they are the best.

And crazy Farangs believe this why?

I have never seen a rich Thai care about the poor look around and prove me wrong.

Just because some are ignorant egotists one does not need to use this as a justification to be one as well.

Personally, even though i live here, i do keep the value system i grew up with - and part of this is being compassionate with my fellow humans, and respect them regradless of their wealth. Maybe this is one of the reasons i hardly ever get hazzled for money by people here upcountry even though i obviously am far wealthier than those folks.

And yes, before you ask, i do speak Thai.

Give a man a fish today he will need you for fish tommorow

Teach him to fish he will have the next day.

We have to teach them to work and drink less.

Their is nothing wrong in teaching but giving for beer is BS.

You farangs are suckers I am a Thai and farang wife and her baby.

She brought me house in Pattaya and Issan.

Please tell me more about Issan Thai families

but are they in love? :o

"What's love got to do with it ?" Tina Turner

"Rain drops on roses, and whiskers on kittens"

Love, in the meaning that most people understand or have probably experienced is a short term hormonal imbalance, respect, honour, faithfulness, shared humour, admiration of another individual, tend to last a lot longer..... and that is the true meaning of a couple that want to stay together.

Infatuation comes first, love comes second, respect and comfort comes third........ respect lasts.

(Thanks for the moderation earlier.... well deserved)

To quote the famous movie ScarFace......First Comes the Money, then come the chicks, then comes the power !!!!!"

Nope its, First you get the power, then the money, then the chicks.

That ain't a lot a money. How much power does 20,000 Baht a month get ? Some hillbilly chick with family that eat insects! :D

As one poster said, finding out what they are saying is so important. Give them an inch and they WILL take a mile. When the family first started to visit they would of course order enough food to feed an army. Once they realised that I was a "normal" person and wouldn't just blindly pay any bills that are given to me then Oooh, I hardly ever see them now. They would always arrive with loads of hangers on and try to get as much out of me as possible.

My experience is quite different. The family has always been very supportive and thankful for anything I have done for them.

My wife is great in these situations, she even backed my point of view over her family. The funny thing is I went to my sister-in-laws house one time with 4 farang friends, same as they would do to me. My God, the offense caused was unbearable. Did we get a good feed...Did we furk!

When I brought my brother and some of his friends, they had prepared a huge table of food and drink for us and had also called in the person in the entire family who speaks the best English, just in order for my friends to feel comfortable and welcome.

If you let yourself be a doormat, then that's what you will be. Over time and visits to my wifes family home I have slowly become accepted as "one of the locals", or near as ###### it. Another farang lives in the village and can't speak any Thai and always has to foot the bill. Go past his house and it's full of Thais 24/7, eating, drinking. Come to my wifes family home when we are eating and it's just the family.

I guess if the family of your partner is like that, you will need to be tough. Personally, I have never had any need to be.

To the villagers, they just laugh at him. All having a really good time at his expense. he's a nice guy as well and it's funny as furk when I turn up at his house as the noise levels drop and the respect aimed at both the farangs in the room is turned up to almost embarrasing levels.
Stand up for yourselves people. Don't accept being a doormat. Have you ever heard a Thai family member say "Thank you"...??

Several times, in fact every single time I have contributed something to the family.

I am properly waied by all the younger members of the family, and naturally also pay my respect to those older than me. There is no pestering for money from anyone, direct or indirect. The family is not poor, but definitely not rich either. They will never let us leave without sending something with us, and nobody has been anything other than accepting of me - despite the fact that I am not very old.

I must say, Meadish, my experience is more like yours - fortunately ! :D I would hate to live in HenryB's head... :D

If having money equates to being intelligent, I can see how HenryB is a lot more intelligent now that his wife has bought him two houses :o

Listen what I said was that having no money no job no future expecting asking wife or daughter to get money from farang doesn't make you intelligent

Its makes you a ***** and poor stupid ***** at that.

Also maybe if you have money you might be intelligent until to give it to a poor stupid ***** in Issan

Good day I have to look for farang to get buffloas for familiy.

A lovely life you must have...having a farang "sucker" as a wife that buys you two houses...

No wonder that you have to come to the internet to play man and throw racialist and classist insults around. I guess your so manly posts here must compensate for a particular lack of something in your life. :o

I wouldn't concern myself too much with trollish comments from HenryB... :D

If you check his post history, he is a Thai with a farang wife and her baby. She brought him a house in Pattaya and Issan. He gives 10 per cent of his income to the poor. He bought 23 houses in his Thai wife's name and 2 in her brothers name. He bought 8 houses for 22 million baht and gave his Thai Girlfriend's brother 100,000 baht for being helpful.

Either he's got more wives and girlfriends than a senior Thai politician... or he's a very confused individual.

Read all about him.

Thanks for the heads up Jai Dee. I see HenryB still lurking around....strange.....I thought this was a school day for little boys..... :o

Term's ended for a lot of Thai kids, though judging from his English Henry is an American; and of course the international schools have just opened, he could be attending grade 1 or 2 there.

In his previous lincarnation Henry was probably a tourist who got burnt by a bargirl.
