Visiting Family for 1 Year from UK Best Visa Option

Featured Replies

I want to visit my daughter and stay for 1 year looking for the best way to do this from the UK.

How long can I stay on a Tourist visa maximum length of time on a multi entry.

Can I then apply for another out off the country in Penang.

When that runs out can I then apply for an ED Visa for the rest of stay.

Thank you

Is you daughter Thai? If not what is her status here?

You could get a 3 entry tourist visa at the embassy or one of the consulates that would give you almost 9 months of total stay.. Then go to Laos for a 2 entry tourist visa that would give almost 6 months of total stay.

How old are you? If over 50 you can apply based on retirement, if younger you can apply based on visiting your daughter and try to get a multiple non-O in both cases.

otherwise it would be a double entry tourist visa giving you almost 180 days in Thailand and you could get another double entry tourist visa in Laos, giving you yet another 180 days.

My daughter is a UK Citizen on an ED visa staying in Phuket.

I am over 50 but do not have the funds to qualify for a Retirement visa.

I do have enough funds to live on out here.

If I come in on a double entry Tourist visa do I do the Ranong Visa run from Phuket after 90 days.

You may be able to get a multiple entry non-o visa to visit your child if she is on extensions of stay for attending school. You should contact the embassy about getting it. If you were able to put 500k bath in a Thai bank you could also get an extension of stay at immigration based upon being her parent.

You can get a 3 entry tourist visa at the embassy in London or from one of the consulates. You could make a border run t Raynong to use the next entry after getting the 30 day extension of the 60 day entry the visa allows.

Contact one of the Thai consulates and see what can be done.

depending on your age receiving a state pension might be enough and otherwise they might issue one based on the study of your daughter. If not, they will issue a double entry tourist visa.

That means two entries of 60 days each, and each entry can be extended by 30 days for a cost of 1,900 baht per extension. So it would be 60 days + 30 day extension, leave the country and return for another 60 days plus 30 days and leave the county. A triple might also be available.
