NACC to hold "Corruption-Free Local Administrative Organization" workshop during Mar 9-12

BANGKOK, 9 March 2015 (NNT) – The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is to hold an annual workshop aimed at promoting a corruption-free local administrative organization (LAO) at Richmond Hotel in Nonthaburi from March 9-12.

The workshop will raise the understanding of LAO staff about the threat of corruption to national prosperity. Participants in the workshop will be embedded with the value of honesty, morality and good governance so that they can be models for LAO officials nationwide.

Since 2009, a number of LAO have been presented with “Good Governance Award” for their efforts to keep the administration out of corruption and promote public participation in anti-corruption process. These organisations are ready to transfer their experience to other LAOs in Thailand, revealed an NACC spokesman.

Will Samui Paradise turn into garbage heap?

Samui, Surat Thani:- If nothing is done soon enough, the small island of Samui, seen as a paradise by foreign tourists, could turn into a heap of garbage soon, according to a briefing at an urgent meeting held Sunday.

During the meeting held by Surat Thani Governor Chatpong Chatphume, more than 250,000 tons of garbage has already piled up on the small island, regarded by many foreign tourists as a paradise, especially decades ago before the tourism industry there boomed.

Nation TV's new 4-D studio at The Coast on-air today
The Nation

30255596-01_big.jpg

BANGKOK: -- NATION TV, a digital TV news channel under the Nation Multimedia Group, has spent Bt50 million on its new studio "Nation TV Town @ The Coast" in Bangkok's Bang Na district, creating the first four-dimension studio in Thailand.

The new studio will debut airing today, starting with news talk programme 'Khao Khon Rub Arun' at 5.30am and ending with a discussion programme "Nation Midnight" at 12pm every day.

Nation TV will extend the morning news with a sports programme for audiences who are fans, especially football supporters, at 7.35am. Three well-known anchors - Kanok Ratwongsakul, Teera Tanyapaipul, and Nantakwang Sirasoontorn will join in the sports talk as co-hosts.

"The Bt50-million new studio comes with the most modern technology and equipment and is considered the channel's third studio," said Adisak Limprungpatanakij, president of Nation Broadcasting Corporation, operator of Nation TV.

The first studio, which has operated for 15 years, is located at the Interlink Tower (the former Nation Tower) and the second is at Siam Discovery Center. It will be closed for 8-9 months, a period the centre has set as a target for renovation.

"Nation TV's studio at The Coast will be used for producing its main programmes from early morning to midnight everyday," Adisak said.

In addition, there will be a new variety TV programme 'The Hacker' to educate how to avoid threats in the cyber world, hosted by IT Guru Prinya Hom-anek.

After a trial airing last weekend, Adisak said the new studio at The Coast, which was designed by assistant professor Aekapong Tritrong from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, is now ready.

The studio had been under construction for four months supervised by a team of Ideal One Co. Aekapong said the studio was designed to have TV screens with rectangle frames, a complicated and innovative building procedure. The studio's oval form can create a view of 360 degrees as well as a harmony of lines, arches, floor, wall and ceiling. Light and sound, graphic design and production technologies were also involved in the studio's planning. The decorative design will allow for different views with the concept of a "Smart Newsroom Studio".

"Apart from the investment in the new studio at The Coast, Nation TV will spend not less than Bt100 million to renovate its existing studio at Interlink Tower, as well as production equipment and a picture screen system with 4:3 to 16:9 specifications. The renovation is expected to be finish this month," Adisak said.

At 5pm Keb Tok Jak Nation show will be aired live from the studio.
