I need to leave Thailand to renew my visa, I want to get the 60 day tourist visa that can be extended 30 days (90 total).

Can I get this from Luang Prabang, Lao?

There is no Thai consulate in Luang Prabang. Your choices, in Laos, are Vientane or Savannakhet.

Visas cannot be "renewed"

If you want a Tourist Visa application will need to be made to a Thai Embassy / consulate in a nearby country.

In Lao there is a choice of Vientiane or Savannakhet where visas can be obtained.

the only things worth seeing there are the mekong river and the airport

the thai consulate in vientiene is the nearest i think but i

would never go there again coz a 30 ish misserable beatch from

hell works in the office there

Fly to Udon Thani then take the bus for a short ride. Or fly to Penang. All in all, cost is similar, you can read the report in the pinned thread top of this page.
