March 11, 201511 yr I need to renew expired US Passport for son but have misplaced/lost original 'Report of Birth Abroad' certificate. I do have a copy of it. Also have original Thai Birth Certificate and expire US Passport. Do I need to get another 'R of B A' or will the Thai Certificate and translation be enough ? If not will the US Embassy produce another Certificate ? Any advice ? Thanks
March 11, 201511 yr According to info on embassy website you will not need the birth certificate just their passport. Info here: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/passports.html Edit: And also here. http://www.travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/under-16.html
March 11, 201511 yr Author Thanks. The last I tried I was told since the Passport had expired, the birth cert was required. I'm hoping the original Thai BC and translation will be enough. It worked the first time . Thanks again
March 11, 201511 yr Both webpages state only the passport is needed. From the state department webpage Previous U.S. Passport (may be expired, must be undamaged)Edit: How to get a replacement report of birth. http://www.travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/abroad/events-and-records/birth/replace-or-amend-consular-report-of-birth-abroad.html
March 11, 201511 yr I just received my son's report. It included a slip with instructions for duplicates. Cost is $40. Like other posts say; if you have a passport; I don't think it is needed.
