Gee, we hit a sore spot with some dog lovers. Do you slap mosquitoes when one lands on your arm? I mean they have a right to live, breed and multiply? All of Gods creation have rights! Right? Save that Spider, save that Ant, they have a purpose on this earth.......get real! A dog is a dog, domesticated or wild. Does anyone go to jail or on death row for killing a mangy street dog? NO! Don't put dogs at the same level as humans. We are higher up in the food chain. Go ahead hug a Wolf in the wild, or a Coyote in the wild. Most have a fear of man. But will attack you in the woods if you show signs of an injury or unable to move about. Any animal will respond with food in hand over time. Its called domestication. Some can and some can't be domesticated. Killing a deer for meat is no different than killing a dog for meat. Same goes for Cats, Squirrels, Rabbits, Ground Hogs, Pigeons, or any other critter that gets in the way of a hungry human. These so called city dwellers have no inkling of how to hunt and capture animals for consumption. They are domesticated humans with store bought food packaged neatly, for consumption. They never think about how the food is processed. They turn their noses up on Horse meat, Moose meat, Bear meat, etc.etc.etc. Little do they realize that in time of wars, when food supplies are short, the first thing that is butchered, before the milking cow is the dog!

It's a pity they don't cull idiots around this place.

As I said before it must really cut some farang up, soi dogs can live in Thailand free without visas meanwhile you are rounded up and herded like cattle the only difference being thais really like cows.

I quess its all about state of mind me i see animals not ultimatly as food and when i see the word butchering next to animals FOR ME i get a similar feeling when i read the death from gun stat's in the usa. apologies for innocent parties as i'm sure there must be

some but actually i feel bemused

at the absolute ignorance and stupidity supposedly civilised

culture can impose on itself !!! wheras i feel nothing but empathy for innocent animals slaughtered for ignorant humans.

Sadly these pages are followed by more than their fair share of trolls. Best policy is to ignore them. I actually feel sad that there are so many clearly westerners in Thailand who must be living such miserable lives, that the only pleasure they get is by attacking any positive story with comments clearly designed to inflame. A shame the admins don't remove them.

If you look at the Soi Dog website you will notice that their main aim is sterilising dogs to reduce the population. The transformation on Phuket is remarkable in the 10 years I have lived here.

10 years ago you couldn't drive more than a few yards without seeing emaciated hairless dogs everywhere. There are still stray dogs here but far fewer and much healthier. In Bangkok they have been removing and poisoning dogs for years. Has it made any difference? No.

Crufts is a show for owners rather than the Dogs, many of them are clearly very odd for dog lovers. This year several dogs were poisoned and one died and another winning dog lover was filmed picking her dog up by it's tail. Any award from crufts is not worth much. Soi dogs are a major menace in Thailand, traffic and health hazzards, they shit piss bark and bite. They are worse pests than rats and need to be dealt with. Yet they are held up not as the pests they are but laughably as intelligent and noble The only good soi dogs, not adopted, are dead ones.

Dogs are dogs and are all awesome because they have abilities and senses that are sometimes are even beyond the comprehension of humans. Just because they are not living in the home of a human doesn't mean that any one of them doesn't have the most amazing abilities.

For example any one of them could turn into the most amazing rescue dog or cancer detection dog if they were given the training and opportunity.

Would you turn back the opportunity for you to be rescued if your life was on the line just because that dog was once a soi dog?.

Are you racist also?

You know what Roo, some people here can even turn a feel good nice story about a poor unfortunate boy and a sweet little dog into an anti Thai/bashing thread and until grubs like jungle flea or whatever are weeded out tvf will continue to look badly on all farang.

Every time I see via the media some story about a dead farang a beaten farang or someone ripped off in one way or another I hope and pray it's one of these a.holes and not a decent one.....only it never works out like that.

Anyway the forums rampant with these dead sheets and it's about time someone singled them out and told them to pull their heads in.

Yes, a great story, but the dog is not a Thai street dog any longer, nor did it have the chance to grow up in that environment and learn feral ways. Your assumption is ridiculous to people who have legitimate arguments, concerns and unheard cases against feral Thai street dogs.

Because it was given the proper attention and training, this dog has absolutely nothing in common with Thai street dogs, and were you to put it back on the streets, it would be killed by those street dogs within days... much like people who hate those of their own race because they become educated and civilized.

The story is about a relationship between a 6 year old boy with cerebral palsy and autism and a rescued dog aptly named Miracle.

A touching story I might add as the relationship may be bringing some peace to the boy.

Why can't people just leave it there?

If posters have problems with soi dogs, then start yet another thread about them and how the personally annoy you. As said above, this is not about a soi dog, but about a bond between a handicapped child and a rescued animal who has had a second chance at life.

Interesting - your views seem to be that God gave man dominion over animals - to do what they please. The arrogance that humans are higher up in the food chain is destroying the planet.

Humans have manipulated the genetics of dogs through selective breeding for thousands of years.

A dog is only a few genes away from humans- exactly the same basic physiology and they can be companions, guardians , they feel emotions , can communicate , feel pain- they are sentient beings. A mosquito is none of these things.

Humans are responsible for the existence of millions of dogs- we should take care of them .

Actually Peter one of my favourite actors Dustin Hoffman goes even beyond saying we are arrogant. When he was interviewed on the set as they filmed the movie “ Outbreak “ years ago (about a fictional ebola like disease) he said it was only humans that were out of step with the ecosystem and that we humans were probably a virus on the planet.

Look around there isn’t much evidence to suggest otherwise in terms of what we have done regarding nuclear pollution from Fukushima affecting the whole Pacific region, raping of the tropical rain forests and even turning the air in places like China ( and even North Thailand right now ) into a fully toxic hazard.

Miracle is not the only soi dog to have been adopted and brought to Europe, or even the States or Australia. There are hundreds of dogs adopted in Thailand and brought to have a better life. In fact, a lot of Swiss do it. And i have not read in my local papers here of any of those dogs attacking or mauling anyone here. And i can tell you that it would have been big news in this small country. And of the stories of people being attacked by a dog - the dogs were not from Thailand.

I'm getting a bit sick of the nasties trawling around fora. Throwing out their stupid comments.

A nice story has to be sabotaged and made "dirty". Very sad.

But who cares about them, the majority of us love this story and wish Miracle and his family all the best.
