Volunteer policeman on second road

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Yesterday myself and a few others watched an old English guy who is a volunteer policeman stopping motorbikes on Pattaya Second road close to Soi Diana. Him and a couple of others pulled over only farangs during the 15 minutes we watched, The stupid, sad old man was even running across the road in front of cars to stop motorbikes.

Most of them had helmets on and I could see no reason for it apart from skin colour. I did see locals ride past without helmets and riding 4 to a bike but the pathetic old man never bothered them. Someone said he has been on tv in some reality program for losers called Bangkok Brits so maybe fame has gone to his head.

I actually had a laugh at him with his pouches on his belt for his torch and whistle and whatever else he is allowed to carry, what a sad existence. What would make you want to do this?

OP, the reasons why he stopped foreigners are

1. Thais would not stop for him and most likely run him over as well.

2. Stopping a thai requires ability to speak thai , which he does not.

3. Fine for thai is 200, foreigner 400,pure economics

4. This area is full of rental bikes driven by foreigners without license and no green book, so it's 1000 at least in fines.

On 3 road, corner Pattaya tai, there is a daily police check point, everyone gets stopped.

To answer why he would, because he deeply thinks and believes by "assisting " police he is one of the boys with "connections"

Will try and run over his foot if he does this to me.

Sorrrrrrrrry mister.

Sad man taking jobs away from good thai citizens.

shame on you. bah.gif

Not true .

Passed many times not stopped.

He must be one of the few Traffic Police foreign volunteers and has nothing to do with the Tourist Police or the Foreign Police Volunteers.

Is this the same guy who has actually gone out and bought himself a Thai Police uniform? There was a thread about him a month or so ago. But he is not English, German or Scandinavian i think. He actually went out and purchased an official uniform to wear, and goes out on patrol with the Thai highway police. Has put stickers on his scooter saying 'Police'. I see him sometimes in South Pattaya, a lot of people openly laugh at him including sometimes his Thai official police colleagues. He loves dashing out into the road to stop Farangs on motorbikes. I would love to know the lagal position of a farang volunteer policeman not wearing their volunteer uniform, but an official Thai police uniform. Whatever, he takes sadness to a whole new level! The thing is, when he is in uniform with his helmet on you have to look closely to see that he is not Thai, which i'm sure he is aware of.

What authority does he have here?

Does he have a work permit?

1. If that is the case Thais should be targeted as they are bigger offenders and more dangerous.

2. If we talk about Dave from the TV show he can speak Thai, that is why they use him as an uncle Tom.

3. Not economics, pure hate of westerners or guava fruits as we are called.

4. Then it is time to crack down on the renters who rent bikes to unlicensed persons.

"...they could use there [sic] time to really make a difference."

Yes, by posting on Thai Visa. And you don't even have to wear a uniform or dodge traffic.

Well there are many volunteer police/immigration expats and I salute the guys helping at the police stations on beach road and in Banlamung and on walking street and at Immigration.

They can help tourists/expats in problems, translating and sometimes quiet them down.

But standing on the street and whistle/flag down everybody not a Thai on a scooter/bike don't impress me at all.

If the Thai Police get a cut of the fines, does this Foreigner also ?

Lets do him favir and some one pleased tell im at he is making a fool out of him self.

Hope he has good medical insurance, jumping out in front of powerful motorbikes weighing 150Kg plus!

Yes, he'd be good in a Nazi role or maybe a US Marine boot camp sergeant or death row executioner.

He does looks like his head is about to explode. Maybe it's just the tight outfit? Way too serious about his job.

The Thai cops must really get a laugh watching this guy running out in traffic "showing them how it's done."

I'm sure he doesn't give a Toss, Brain Damaged...

By everyone it means both thai and foreigner, and just because you passed many times it does not make it not true, doh

Do not know to cry or to laugh at your complete lack of common sense.

I feel they want to show that it is not Thai police who stop the foreigners but the foreign police. I had seen many Thai police or army and they never stopped me.

Theyre all persons who could never get in the police, fire, or military. Now they are trying to live their dream with inflated heads and a bulge in the pants. untrained and dangerous. Sorry bunch.

Yea, he looks bit too gung-ho to be accepted in a professional force back home.

Wouldn't it hilarious if a camera crew followed him around for a "Day in the Life" type show? I bet he would go for it. Really get into it. Probably even knock down or tackle a foreign motorbike rider on 2nd road for the cameras.

And the best part, he wouldn't even know it was a comedycheesy.gifcheesy.gif
