residence certificate from uk ebmbassy, translation needed ?

Featured Replies

hi,

i have searched but have not found info,

i soon plan to get my thai drivers licenses renewed in Pattaya,

i know i need a certificate/affadavit of residence

which i will be getting from UK embassy

(i already know can get from immigration but i will get from embassy)

my question is:

does the DL office in Pattaya require the cert of residence from embassy to be translated ?

as obviously the uk embassy will provide it in English

from what i have read i simply need to turn up at embassy with passport

(although i will also have lease which is in thai with me)

but my current thai license has address in thai on back

so i just wondered if they accept the affadavit and then you write address in thai ?

any relevant info from anyone that has done this would be greatly appreciated

If you want to go all the way to Bangkok and pay an outrageous fee to your Embassy to get a "certificate of residency" it will be accepted at the Pattaya Land Transport Office as is without need for translation

But you only need a certificate of residency for your first one year license, from then on, the old license is your proof of residency for a 5 year license and subsequent renewals, at least that was the way it was for me
