Truck things.. Tires and top end ICE install ?

As my networking thread gave such good results lets try this..

Have a truck needs tires anyway and considering upping the wheel size at the same time. But want to discuss options, different tire profiles and widths that will fit existing wheels first. Not trying to go huge dirt centric tires (road noise and the like) but looking for a bit more 'chunky' than stock (Bridgestone Dueller AT or the maxis equivalent). Went into 2 cockpit type basic tire shops at the weekend and between zero interest in discussing options or showing anything, a very limited tire choice and a 10k per tire pricetag for a road centric bridgestone, I am assuming that the usual car tire places are not the best source for pickup tires ??

Is there some known good pickup tire shop ?? One with many tire options and good pricing ??

Secondly, and I think my chances in Chiang mai are very slim, I am trying to price check and demo a top end in car media player and GPS setup. I know apple carplay and android auto are right on the edge of launch, so now is a bad time to be looking.. But where has the high end car ICE in chiang mai (or bangkok ??).

I need to emphasize, I am not interested in the basic stuff, I already have an 80GB iPod and Garmin bodged in as separate systems. I am only interested in the new kind of top end gear, the stuff where you pull into the house, it logs into your home wifi, syncs your media collections and playlists, syncs with your dropbox account to pick up garmin or google earth routing systems (so you can design road trips / favorites / waypoints at the PC and and then they are automatically put into the car when you turn it on) the car can be either a wifi hotspot or tethered from smartphone etc etc.. Stuff like last years Kenwood DNN9350BT or the announced DDX9902S etc, and I want to see it. If its just ordering from a catalogue spec sheet I have the internet. I have my doubts if this kind of gear is here ??

I went into the Alpine store on the super highway where they had 2 - 3 year old systems, at 200 or 300 % the price they are mail ordering (taxes etc also) and no knowledge or ability to do real demos. No wonder the store is empty, they want to sell 30 - 40k premium items while giving a 5k sales experience. If I cant find something top end I can just wait a year until android auto is common, bring a unit back from Europe or put a nexus 7 tablet in there for a while.

Give B-Quik http://www.b-quik.com/en/index.php a try next to Big C Extra on the superhighway. I have used them for tires and other items and am very happy. Avoid Cockpit like the plaque.

I have the opposite view. B-Quik seems good when they started a couple of years ago, but now gone way down the hill, indifferent service. On the other hand Cockpit have the best tyre inventory and in my opinion the best service.

I kind of assumed there would be a dealer whose more 4x4 and pickup focused ?? Its not like theres a shortage of done up trucks..

dropping into 2 tire places over the weekend it was obvious they had only a couple of options for truck brands and sizes.. Both very vanilla 'road tread' bridgestones... But 10s of choices for car sizes..

Yokohama Geolanders are on my shortlist..
