Form for registering address

Featured Replies

I downloaded the official form (tm30 - see attached) from the Immigration police website - surprisingly clear and easy to complete, but when I presented it to Phuket immigration they said it was not acceptable, instead insistintg that I used their own form - badly photocopied from something they composed. Much less clear and simple than the tm30 - see attached PKTRES. Has anybody any idea why diferent immigration offfices can make up forms to suit themselves rather than using an official form?

They can make up forms if they want to.

It has been reported that if you just take the Phuket form to get a number for the registration desk. The desk will accept the TM30 form if you present it.

Here is a better copy of the Phuket form. Phuket Residence Form.pdf

The Phuket form makes no sense to me. Its title is "Registration Form for the Owner of Residence" but it asks for no details of the owner and the immigration office asks you, the tenant, to complete and sign the form. With this form, you declare the address of the place where you live, something you have already done with the application form for your extension of stay. It is a simpler version of the TM.30, allowing you, the house-master in your capacity as chief possessor and tenant of the apartment, to report the fact that you live at that address.

Nevertheless, you may consider yourself lucky that this is all that the Phuket immigration office has implemented. There was a post a few days ago by a member whose application for extension was denied by another immigration office because the owner of his rented apartment refused to comply with immigration's request that he should accompany the applicant to the immigration office with his house registration book and ID card.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I presume that even though it is you, the resident farang, who has to complete the Phuket form, you still have to present copies of the tabian baan and owner's ID card? The Tm 30 makes all this clear, but the Phuket form is very confusing.

I've had more problems from the foreign volunteers that I ever have with the Thai.

he downloaded Tm 30 consists of 2 pages. Does anyone know if these should be printed back to back or on separate sheets? The second sheet (Names of Aliens in residence) would be easiest completed if printed in "landscape" format, but I don't know if this would be acceptable.

I think it is meant to be printed 2 sided with the back printed in landscape.

Many thanks ubonjoe. I'll give it a try, and if I get my head handed back to me in a bag I'll know who to blame!
