Non-O Dependant Savannakhet

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Seeking your expertise once again!

Tomorrow morning I leave for Suvannakhet from Korat. My first time trying here for my Non-O.

(recently knocked back at Vientiane for my Non-O dependant, he said as I didn't have a Thai ID card for my daughter. After checking with city hall about getting a Thai ID card they told me she has to be 7 years old........shes 3.......hilarious, pretty sure it shows a date of birth on the birth certificate and passport and my mouth but I guess he must have 'missed' all this...anyway rant over)

1.I was wondering if anyone has managed to secure their Non-O for dependant child at Suvannakhet. If so what documentation did you take?

2.I heard a rumor that you don't need to show finance at Suvannakhet even for a 1 year Non-O child dependant is there any truth in this? and would that be possible for me (I have birth certificate translated stamped, Thai ID card mother, Passports me, daughter ,mother, address book with daughters name in....extras photo of us together in house, and photo of house)

any assistance with these questions is greatly appreciated!

also a secondary topic not so important.....any hotel names decent (ish) places to stay close to the embassy?

Thankyou in advance!

An ID card is not normally needed to get a non-o visa but you do need a copy of their house book registry. If you didn't have that it would probably be whey the said an ID card was needed.

Unless you are the legal father of your child by way of marriage or legitimization you will not be able to get a multiple entry non-o visa in Savannakhet.

See: How To Gain Parental Rights As A Father

Even if you are the legal father of your child the only reports of getting one in Savannakhet is when the entire family was together when the application was made to prove they were living together as a family (de facto marriage).

The documents you listed should be more than enough to get a single entry non-o visa. I assume the address book you wrote about is their house book registry. Your child's birth certificate does not need to be translated

Yeah all the documents I stated I had at Vientiane also very confusing as to why he asked for that.

Yes the address book was the house book registry (Tabien Baan)

Yes I am the legal father my name is on the birth certificate. But I will be going on my own, hmm so I will try for the 1 year visa I guess no harm in trying, but if they reject it I would know there and then and thus can apply for a single entry immediately after I would imagine?

thanks for the reply also very helpful

Your name on the birth certificate does not make you the legal father of your child. You have to have your parenthood legitimized.

Just a small point.

Being named on a child's birth certificate does not make a person the "legal father" . Legal status as the child's father can only be secured by being married to the mother or by legal process.

Ah ok, yeah I just checked the link out sounds pretty straight forward, go to the Amphur with the mother and daughter and that's that taken care of.

But for this run then I guess I will be without a legitimized parenthood. So what outcome am I looking at with all the documentation I have previously stated, single entry Non-O? and how long is that 60 or 90 days?

You will get a single entry non-o visa that will give a 90 day entry.

You can also get a 60 day extension at immigration to visit your child without being the legal father of your child.

oh ok so the 90 days + 60 extension at immigration then will need to run again correct?

do you think its not even worth bothering to try for the 1 year then? will this surely be rejected and just waste my time, or do you think being that we are in Thailand its always worth a shot? hah

Without legitimisation you will not get a 1 year extension of stay from immigration.

roger that. Thanks guys

I think that your daughter aged 3 may be too young to express her will at the Amphur. In that case a family court order will be needed. All the info is in the same thread linked about.

Hi OP..I just came back from Savannakhet today and your situation is the same as my and I am still in Mukdahan..you will only get single entry Non-O and the rest is of document is like what ubonjoe say. I have try to go to the amphur and is just waste of time. The only way is go to court. Please remember to bring the original birth certificate and you need your wife to signature her ID card and house book..
